How can I (affordably) set my lights to dim in the layout room every 15 minutes, for 15 minutes and then return to bright?

I went to Home Depot, but they had outdoor dimmers that were set for specific times: on @ 8:00 p.m., off @ 11:00 p.m., etc.

Also, I wanted to be able to have a timer that turns on a seperate accesory power pack for house lights, street lights, etc.

any ideas.

Thanks

csxengineer, a company called Intermatic makes all kinds of timers, but I don't know what you consider affordable, for I think an electronic timer like your describing would be a custom type item. Hope it helps Pat

The Aberfoyle Junction display layout has a "night scene" where the overhead lights dim and all the lights in buildings come on and then go out in sequence. I was told that one of them built a huge rotary cam with hundreds of micro switches on it to do this. Not sure what they wired the room lights to.
(They're only about a day's drive north of you -- turn right at Erie and left at Buffalo.)
