OK, so after lusting over an N shay for a year, the wife finally said 'go get it for crying out loud. It's only a matter of time before you do anyway.' So I did. I get it home, and before its even out of the box, she notices that the rear (long) driveshaft is disconnected and hanging loose at the center piston assembly. There is a tiny, omigod ever so tiny, pin which fits into the universal joint of the shaft; however, it won't stay once placed there. Is this a press fit? Needless to say, this loco is going back to the LHS this morning, but I wonder if anyone else has seen this. I assume it must come apart somehow for normal assembly and disassembly, but how? Thanks for input...
