Athearn Genesis GP7/9 Announced

Just noticed this on the Athearn new products listing! The long awaited, dimensionally correct GP7/9 (hopefully), for the first time in HO plastic.

Will have to go look at one to see the difference - have 3 or 4 "Blue Box", wide hood, no DCC, no sound, purchased in a previous life NEW for 'bout $26 each. Ernst gears, KD's and a bunch of home-made wire bits made 'em pretty nice. Couple cents under $180 each (DCC-Ready/No Sound) will be tough on my budget...$279.98 with DCC/Sound is beyond my reach. :cry: Bob C.

Well, Chooch, I have to agree with you. I also purchased Blue Box GP-9s and paid $12.97 for a 'dummy' and about $10 more for a powered unit. I spent a few more bucks to get correct headlamps and KD couplers. And of course they cost less than today's trains, they were made in AMERICA!
