Anyone building a cruise missle?

    I love finding airplanes on the Google Earth. But I don't think that's a cruise missile. With twin contrails behind it, not to mention how large it has to be to be picked up at that resolution, the general dimensions would suggest that it's an MD-80/-90.

    Yeah, after zooming out a bit, that does seem like a rather populated area to be testing a missile....

    :wink: Actually it looks like a Harpoon SLAM variant based on the control surfaces, ratio of length to wing span, position of the control surfaces on the fuselge, and colour. Rather than contrails I would say that is exhaust from the pulsed turbine engine. Just my opinion mind you, maybe I should ask my wife.

    After looking, I must go with the airplane as well. If you look carefully, you can see the wings and tail surfaces, as well as the cockpit ( Google earth lets you zoom in closere). Definitely to big for a cruise missile.

    Ah... the wings are black and barely visible. A plane, definitely.
