The two founding railroads of the North American Rail Alliance along with one other member road announced today that

The Grande Valley(US-Michigan),The Mayberley & Tayside(Canada) and the Hocking Valley (US-Ohio)
are forming a 3 railroad alliance that will,

1 Allow the Grande Valley access to Ohio.(the GVR allready has access to Canada via the MAT)

2 Allow the Maberly & Tayside acess to Ohio ( the MAT allready has access to Michigan and Indiana through the GVR)

3 Allow the Hocking Valley access to both Western Michigan and Canada.

We believe that this alliance will not only benefit the three railroads involved but will also open up new markets for our customers.

Well if you want Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas through the ZMT it's gonna cost ya $10.4 million upfront plus $750,000 a year plus 12% tarriff on revenue. :D And them are US dollars too. Fred

    Sirs:
A sister road to the C&HV will also be utilized in this alliance..The Cincinnati & Lake Erie. This will give the C&HV access to Toledo via Springfield. This will also open up the Cincinnati gateway to the south and southwest for the GVR and MAT..The HV will be looking into trackage rights over the Jackson & Springfield Ry to Springfield in order to have a direct connection to the C&LE..
Currently the CDB Industries(owner of 7 short lines including the C&HV and C&LE)
is looking for trackage to Grand Rapids or buy another short line if needed..

We feel that such a alliance will not only benefit the HV,C&LE,GVR and MAT but our customers as well and will make us more competitive with CSX and NS in these market areas..

For the projected traffic growth the HV will be receiving some newer high horse power units.According to R.E.Jinks President of Motive Power and Freight Car Fleet(CDBI) these new units will be SD50s or SD60s in order to keep up with CDBI's all EMD policy for motive power for its railroads..

You should be hearing from our operations department in the next few days.

    Larry Morgan
    CEO C&HV Ry.
    CDB Industries.

    Wow, Catt & Brakie....

Sure seems like your roads continue to grow in leaps and bounds, eh? Very cool.

The Virginia Atlantic System is watching these industry moves VERY Closely!

    Objection!

As a competitor to the Maberly and Tayside, the Perth and Exeter Railway announces formal objection to these merger plans. We will fight this to the supreme courts.
Unless, of course, we are granted trackage rights over all routes into Michigan and Ohio.
