Well hello fellow seekers after "will it ever be ready" finishing touches.

We ( Brian Glen Andy Dave Ernie and me) Have been working once a week at Glens house, on the new portable traction layout
since January (phew).
It consists of 5 sections 3 X4' X 30" and 2 4'X34"

4 are in line making 16' long with the last one (both 34'') together making an L shape.
The Town is in the two 34" sections.
So far the boys have most of the long run done with the scenary
and the overhead, the station (Witches Hat) is almost ready for the far end.
The road work is in and the few rank ups.
with 4 weeks to go for its first railway show (Ottawa Railfair)
Its going to be a tight squeese.
We will have an almost finished layout at least the overhead and switches will be working.
The town will sprout buildings grids trees sidewalks car parks ect ect as we grow older.
We do have a finished 12' one thats going there as well so with the pole making clinic and such it promisis to be a great 2 days.
see you there?
Cheers
Chris.
So go work on the railway!

I don't know where it was going, I'm not even sure where it came from. I'm not familiar with the color scheme. It is not headed for the San Francisco Bay area, I have a passing aquaintence with the colors there (BART, MUNI, GGT) and that ain't one of them.

Hi Chris!

Fido is laying down beside me. She's getting on in years and isn't so active (fat chihuahua!). I don't know if pixie could swim. We had to give her away because she kept picking on the others even though she's so small. It sucked, but when we found a good home for her we felt better. She was only 3 lbs (that's pounds, not labs :D :D :D ). Bubalou is beside me too, still young and playful.

I think your traction stuff is awesome. I might try to sneak a little traction loop in my layout somewhere. I would love to see more, now and as things develope.

:D :D Good day to all. I am glad to report we all worked our little tails off last night, and managed to have all the over head strung up thanks to Dave Andy Glenn and me, Brian and Glenn have done a great job pulling it all together with the scenery, Ernie has been putting time in on our scatched built Witches hat Station as well as helping out on a lot of stuff with Andy.
Next week we pull it all down bring it up stairs and fit it in Brian`s van take it for a ride, get it all back down in Glenn` basement
set it all up again and fine tune it.
Then its of to Ottawa.
Lot of work lot of fun, and good times together.

Yes I will post photo`s of the Ottawa show after October.
Cheers.
Chris.;) ;) :)

Trolley Pole Plans

Hello Traction Fans! (and wannabes)

This is for all of us who can't make it to Chris's wiring clinic in Ottawa later this month. The Urban Scene Scale Modellers website now has a set of trolley pole plans, written by none other than our own Chris Walker, (and illustrated by moi). You can download them in pdf format from:
http://members.rogers.com/urbanscene/
(go to the How To section)

The next installment will show how to set up the overhead wiring to make the poles operational, once I attend Chris's clinic in November. In the meantime, this should get you started! :D

Cheers
Val
