Kia Ora guys (and any guyesses!)

As a comparative noob at this lark, I'm wondering if alternate road names are available as decal sheets.

I have an old Athearn SW1500 in Norfolk & western (black scheme), and I'm thinking I'd like to change it to a UP yellow/gray scheme.

Any suggestions / ideas / etc welcome!

Cheers from Aotearoa

Hi Mike,

If you're asking if there are decal sheets for various railroads available commercially the answer is yes indeed!

Microscale is one example of a company that carries an extensive list of road names including the UP.

Click on the "choose your road name" option on the upper left of their page.

If I'm not mistaken, Spongemike is looking for a full-size decal that he can slap onto a loco that will completely replace painting. Um. If so, I don't think anyone makes those, and besides, you'd lose so much detail on the loco, why would you not just paint it?

Spawn,

I am not sure that's what he's getting at, but you make an interesting point.

Some time ago there was an article about "painting" a caboose with a decal. The decal was made from actual photos of said caboose - graffiti, rust and all. Looked great, but I am sure it was difficult to do...!
