2004 is now over, and it was a great year for model railroading, scratchbuilding, and layout planning here at the Gauge!! Now it's time to nominate your favourite candidate for the Academy.

For those who'd like to know what qualifies for submission to the Academy, there is one simple guideline: the thread should "teach" how to do something - could be tracklaying, scratchbuilding, wiring, soldering - you know, any one of the myriad skills we need to build our utopian empires. :) :) The main thing is that it serves as a tutorial for its subject.

If you want to see first hand what qualifies, take a stroll over to the Academy and see what's in there now. :thumb:

You may nominate as many threads as you wish, as long as they fulfill that one requirement. You may re-nominate, or "second" existing nominations. Nominations will be open until the end of January. At that time, we will put the nominations to a vote, and 3 winners will be added to the Academy.

That's it! Who wants to make the first nomination?

Hi Val. Why limit it to only three? I remember last year because of the number of quality nominees, more were added than had been originally planned. You might want to keep that option open since there were a lot of worthy entries. :thumb:

If we get more than 3 exceptional ones - we'll put them in :) But they have to follow the above guidline, plus it must be easy to understand for someone else to follow the directions. You're looking for details in the text as well as "better quality" photos.

~~ Thanks!!!!

Thanks Ray, Robin and Bob for your nominations. By my count we now have 2. We've done lots of great projects over the last 6 months - how about some more nominations?
:D :D :D

Blake's recent "how-to-paint" explanation was excellent...I'll nominate that one for the academy.

Great suggestions everyone. Still over half a month before we close the nominations. Does anyone have any more suggestions? :)
