    The AC4400CW (CW44AC, C44AC, C44-9WAC) was produced concurrently with the C44-9W, and is the second most common modern diesel. 2598 were built.

    It can be distinguished from the C44-9W by the large inverter cabinet behind the cab on the left side. Also, some AC4400CWs have radial trucks.
