4-4-0 Christmas Magic

    I repainted this Lionel Christmas American 4-4-0 to look a litte more train like and less like a battery toy.

    I am now making a consist for it.

    It was all red and the domes were a yucky green.

    I painted the boiler black and all the hardware shinny gold.

    I think I could run it all year.

    I may remove the wood load in the tender and make one of coal for it.

    That looks a lot better. Great for Christmas (better than original I think) but like you said, you could run it all year.

    Thanks. I hate to paint a new otb engine but this worked out OK.

    I just got this engine and like it. however you are right, it does look semi-toy batteryish (yes i made a new word) What paint did you use? Did you prime the areas first?

    Sweet paint job Gil. I think Lionel's General is still the best looking 4-4-0 out there. :D

    I added two new cars from the wonderful world of eBay.

    A caboose and gondola with packages.

    Is that O or O27?
    That could be an interesting little daily runner with the right paint sceme.

    cannonball the christmas general runs on O27. I've got one, and I think im going to do the same style paint job as mr. finn has done.
