225E Steam Loco

Hi. I am new to this group, but have a question.

I have a Lionel 225E steam loco, that could use a new top. By that I mean my daughter surprised me with this prewar (I guess prewar) engine with a whistling tender. It appears to use spade type hooks for the cars.

It was a great surprise, as I had one as a kid very similar (except mine smoked) but some idiot cut off part of the cow catcher. Don't have any idea how I could repair it. Looks like it needs a new cast top on it. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Jack.

Hi Allstate, welcome!!
Any possibility of a photo?

I really have no idea about this, sounds like a
real collector's item! :) :)

It could prolly be repaired cosmetically using styrene
and paint. What is the shell cast from??

Hi Cid, Tommy, and others. Boy, look at that smiling face on a Sunday morning.

I apologize for not getting back to you. I am an older guy who still loves all trains. However, being older was in the hospital for a few days and that is why I never replied back.

Good to go now, but not at all sure how to put a picture on here. I have a digital, so I will go read the FAQ and try my luck. I run a website so maybe that will help me in hosting them.

I am a computer NON-NERD so bear with me.

I thank both of you for your replies, and will get back to you.

Have a nice day. Jack.
