Hi,

So, heres my problem. I don't have a layout, i don't have plans to make a layout. I need a 1890s loco for a wild west diorama. Oh, guess what i also don't have.... Thats right, i dont have a clue where to start. Preferably i'd like a non running loco kit. Any suggestions???

You don't mention scale or a budget limit so I'm assuming H.O scale 1:87th will do.Also be this a personnal project or more like a school project?
As mentioned above Ebay could be a good starting point.
Now' are we looking for passenger or freight equipment ?
And well there are several engines to choose from If this is a one time project I would recommend a older AHM 4-4-0 which should be available on ebay reasonably cheap.
We also will need some track , Nickel silver flex will do nicely rather than brass snap track.
Buildings? people? ....size of diorama? Lots of things to concider.
Give us some idea of what your thinking and the guys here will be happy to jump in and give you a hand.

I second the motion, an AHM Genoa would be perfect. it is the best looking of the possibilities.

I have some bits an pieces, some of which I could part with but I don't know if I can find a headlight or a tender, as I have robbed them for some shays. let me look
