    Boy, oh boy!

You sure are determined to get this model exactly right, down to the last screw. I am sure this model will be a museum piece!

I hope you will be able to market this as a model kit with instructions - in that case, count me in, Bruce! I´d like to build it, too, some day.

    Keep up that expert work!

    Best regards,

Quality... all I can see. Love the fact that we are scaling up for good details.

That is a fine looking engine Bruce. When you get the fins fixed could we see it with a scale cube?

    cheers
    ~Douglas
  4. Yeah that fin problem is a serious error. I think you should tear it back down and start over.----- NOT!.

That is one of those things that I tell myself. "I will fix it when I build another one"

This is a fine effort and truly a museum quality piece. Keep it up. Only don't start over. No one but you is going to notice.

    Hi, Tim,
Actually I did tear it down and start it over! (Just the cylinders.) I appreciate your point, but if the engine isn't exactly scale, at least it should look enough scale that some picky buggars on this forum won't have too much to complain about!

At any rate, I am almost done getting the fins right. It has been a while, but what with the start of the school year and all, it's been hard on this old teacher. Please hang on- good stuff is coming!

    Cheers!
    Bruce

    At Last!

OK, I think I finally have the fins the way I want them...

Now its on to the rest!
After the motor is done, there will be a display stand and propeller.
    Cheers!

    Blériot in 1:10th Scale

    Hello Bruce,

Any developments on the big Blériot model lately? I´m just curious . . .

    Progress is good- but slow...

    Hi Bengt, and everyone-
Sorry for the slow progress, but work has been keeping me off the bench too much :(
I do have some nice progress to show.
    The engine is about complete.

Here's a similar angle shot of the real thing:

The spaghetti of intake and exhaust pipes are done with heavy gauge copper wire. Think I'll try Aluminum brazing rod for the next one.

I am now in the middle of designing the propeller:

It's 8 1/2 inches in diameter with 22 laminations of Bristol board. After that will come the engine mount / desk stand. I have begun the instructions as well, so hopefully it won't be too long now.

P.S. Bengt, I have a sample of the roof tiles to send you. Please PM me the mailing address.
    Cheers!

Laminated Prop for 1/10th Scale Blériot Model

    Amazing, Bruce,

That is not just any laminated card prop - that is a work of art! And the color is beautiful, just like the darkened type of varnished hardwood they used in the period.

    Keep up the good show!

    Blériot in 1:10th Scale

    Hi Bruce,

Do you feel the pressure from the paper gang? - it´s 2009 now, and it was 100 years ago that Louis Blériot made his successful cross-channel flight in the Blériot XI monoplane . . .

We are waiting for more of those fine photos . . .

I hope you kit it. I for one would buy. The amount of work you put into the motor alone let alone the prop which to me is art, is just outstanding. I have purchased other items from you ie: ships railing and I will say here for all, the parts are top rate first quality. I can not wait to see how you do the wire wheels.

    Yo Bruce,
take a look at Kooklik's Big boy,(for me it is a simular quest) it 's going to take him at least a year to finish, we don't mind if you take at least an other year to finish your Bleriot, we just keep on cheering..
And i know how difficult that can be, just let us know...
