    Warhound Titan Version... 3.0? 4.0?

Sorry, typo. I meant PVA glue. I applied a layer to the joint parts, let it set and dry for 72-ish hours, assembled the joint, tested it and it seemed good. But an hour later and the joint... well was no longer a joint.

    Warhound Titan Version... 3.0? 4.0?

And I give you... the toe! Sort of. I've been working on the design of the toe for the Warhound and I've gotten to a 'complete' stage... but I'm not thrilled with the end result. The pistons.. seem wrong. So I'm gonna take this one back to the drawing board. The labor is rather intense for...

    Warhound Titan Version... 3.0? 4.0?

I tried the PVC glue. Even though I was waited 72 hours before inserting the rod through the knuckle it glued itself together rendering the joint... well... not a joint anymore.

    Warhound Titan Version... 3.0? 4.0?

okay... not really sure what you are referring to. If you're referring to the toe nuckle construct, I tried shaving it down to return it to the original .5mm thickness. The problem is that you're also removing material in the process, compromising the strength of the material itself. I had to...

    Warhound Titan Version... 3.0? 4.0?

I'm not too thrilled with the design of the toes in the original plans, so I started working on that. The original plans are laid out so that each toe has a central shaft that connects it to the foot and the toe itself basically caps over that shaft. In theory, you're supposed to attach...

    Warhound Titan Version... 3.0? 4.0?

I wanted the ankle to allow rotation and bending. This was a challenge but I had a thought about how to accomplish it. By layering cardboard with a central point of rotation, I can build a strong hinge joint that will still allow the bend. By building that hinge into a rounded base, I can allow...

    Warhound Titan Version... 3.0? 4.0?

So I've lost count of what version of the Warhound I'm up to at this point, but thats besides the point. I'm working on a scratch build Warhound titan again. I choose to blame Blackadder for inspiring me to undertake this insanity. I've done a couple previous builds of this titan, each time...

So there's 3 types of Dope? Shrinking, non-shrinking and... whatever the one that doesn't say it shrinks the paper but aparently isn't the non-shrinking variety? Also when you say 'thin coats' how do you mean? When I did the edge coat expiramanets I literally just touched the edges with the tip...

Um... would 3.5 pound pull magnets holding the baking sheets together count as putting weight on the edges? If so then I had about 42 pounds of force applying pressure. As for the styrene... 2 reasons I haven't started on that. 1- the original plans I started with were designed for a 2" long...

I did try applying it just the edges. Those were the ones that tended to seperate into layers the most.

So I spent most of yesterday expiramenting. Result are... well not stellar. I got the Eze Dope that did not mention anything about shrinking figuring that was the non-shrinking variety that Danfolf mentioned. Well... apparently that is not the case, as it warped the parts like crazy. So now the...

well the Eze Dope arrived about 10 minutes ago and I've got a pint of polycrylic so I'm gonna try some expiraments with them and get back to you.

I did order a bottle. It hasn't come in yet (michaels doesn't carry it locally), so yeah... until it comes in nothing has actually changed and if someone else chimmed in with other suggestions I didn't want to discourage that hence it seemed like a better idea to not mention I had gotten the...

actually I found that the first day you mentioned the paper dope. It's just... everything I've read about it tells me this is most assuredly NOT what I want to use for this. Everything I've read about it talks about it being used to shrink and tighten up Tissue paper. Since the cardboard I'm...

Okay so something like MinWax polycryllic sealer is a viable option?

So I'm confussed. What should I be looking for? a Hobby store that sells Aero-Gloss, or a Home Depot that sells the MinWax or are they the same thing practically speacking?

ah, the only 'chipboard' I was aware of was the compressed really dense cardboard that frankly is easier to cut with a band saw then anything else I've found. And as for the 'dope' what is the actual name for it? and surprisingly, googling "Paper dope" brings up surprisingly few drug results.
