    my very old phasers

thats pretty impressive. the one problem with mine was that the weight was never right. i didn't know what they should weigh but i knew it was way more than a few scraps of cardstock. i doubt you suffered from that shortcoming. these were my third or fourth scratch attempts. of course, i...

    my very old phasers

i had the AMT kit too [head-slap!] but i never liked them at all. the type I and II couldn't separate and the scale was WAY wrong. they were tiny compared to what they should have been. that never made sense to me. i mean, OK, the enterprise kit couldn't be 1:1, but the props ...? really?

    my very old phasers

and here is my phaser type 2. its in much worse shape. the power level dial on the butt is gone. the beam emitter has been replaced [my son 'fixed' it after loosing it]. i even had a belt my mom made me with the proper velcro patches for the communcator [which i can't find], the type one...

    my very old phasers

many moons ago, in the late 70s, and before everyone figured out that there was a lot more money to be made from selling toys and props, i was a frustrated uber-fan of trek. of course i'm referring to TOS as TNG, DS9, voyager [gag] and so forth hadn't come on the scene yet. i wanted my own...

    anybody want a peanut?

sounds like local charities have him spending too much time herding cats that are both individuals or packs but not neither one at the same time ... er ... um ... yeah. thanx!

    anybody want a peanut?

here's an odd request ... a friend and i were talking about the princess bride and it occurred to me to wonder if anyone has ever found / tried vizzini's sailing vessel? i don't know that it had a name, and i didn't recognize it from seeing it anywhere else, but that would be a cute little...

    site timeouts

thanks to both of you for your replies. as with most pages, i tend to just leave the page up all day, coming back to it every now and then. based on your feedback i tried something slightly different. after logging in i actively logged out [i never do that]. the site reported that it cleared...

    site timeouts

is it really necessary for the site to timeout so quickly? i tend to keep LOTS of pages/tabs open. almost every time i come back to zealot i've been timed out and have to log back in. i'm not convinced that there should be a timeout at all; but if the mods feel the need, isn't two hours more...

    Recent Forum Issues!

is this why thumbs are missing? i'm cruising the forums [again] and notice a lot of the thumbnails aren't showing up. is the technical issue you mention the cause? or are there gremlins on my end? thanx in advance

    Scale of Uhu02's Aries 1B?

thats ... what? about 50% larger? some pages [#10] can be rotated and printed a couple of times at a larger size; the rest will obviously have to be 'broken out' and re-paginated. i'm going to be in the same boat when i get around to them. i'd like to have ares, moonbus, and space pod at the...

    Scale of Uhu02's Aries 1B?

i don't know this for a fact and, since i don't read any of the asian languages, can't say if its documented anywhere, but just eyeballing it the moonbus looks to be about 1/72 and the ares appears to be about half of that [1/144]. don't take that to the bank though. i looked on both models [i...

    old hand, new user

thanks verily, inky; at present i've used the B-9 and the raptor to scrape the rust off of what passes for my skills. i'll see if i can't turn out something respectable now. given the talent on display here its a little intimidating to consider posting my own poor work. cheers

thank you very kindly, zathras. moment of silence for tim chaote. i've poked around a bit already, being a lurker by nature ... enough, at any rate to decipher uho02's 'secret' and download some of his awesome work. looking forward to some quality time with his excellent discovery, ares...

    old hand, new user

greetings and felicitations ... haven't done scratch modeling for years [decades] until a couple weeks ago. my son and i have been getting a kick out of some simple builds. he's working on finishing an ISSCV [space above and beyond] after building a small triplane, an f-22 raptor, and a couple...
