    E-mail virus

Hi All, I am a software trainer and Internet Security trainer so I always pay extra attention to discussions like this. My current recommendations: SpyBot Search and Destroy, Adaware, and ESET Smart Security. I used to use Norton, but the latest versions were really slowing down my computer and...

returning to card models where to get paper

I agree with above, except that I tend to favor the heavier weights of paper. My big problem is that I can't find a good Bright White card stock, everything has a slight yellow or grey tint, makes the colors a bit dull. I would love to find a good card stock in really bright white. I get my...

    cutting models

Depends on if you want the line to show or not. I tend to cut just inside the line so it does not show on the model.

    Stupid question from a beginner

One more tip I forgot, I have a stack of $1 coins, they seem silly to use as money but they make great weights for model building. For light weight just use one, or stack on more if you need more weight. I have a stack of 6 ($6 in weights), handles most of my needs. For the big stuff I have a...

    Stupid question from a beginner

Here are a couple of tips that I use. I hate to sit and hold a model part until it drys so I have a collection of clips and clamps to keep things in place. My favorites are small forceps and some really nice little spring clamps that I bought at Radio Shack, they are about an inch long and are...

    helmet ideas

How about something based on Knights and such. Just a jumping off point. You can take that and then make it real sci-fi. I haven't seen anything like that online.

How to protect paper models from dust?

I use clear plastic cases designed for displaying die cast models for my best builds, but for everything else if it gets dusty, dirty, dented, deformed, I just trash it and build a new one. After all, the fun is in building it anyway.

    Paper thickness...

Hi, things will change when glued as well. I have found that pieces that do not seem to fit dry, fit fine once one side has some glue on it and gains flexibility.

    RIP OFF Alert

Hi All, China is not a signatory to the world copyright laws. So according to China law, they can copy and sell anything they want. Only solution is to do everything to can to make sure you do NOT buy Chinese goods (means giving up on most of Walmart, but so what). The big problem is that our US...

It looks like UHU02's Heart of Gold is going to be the one from the Movie. Anyone out there considering the one from the TV show?

    Enterprise

Hi, do you use any particular brand of paper? I found that in regular printing papers I can get a real nice bright white, but in the heavier card stock the paper is either a duller white or off white. Do you know of any nice, bright card stock? Thanks!

    1:50 Star Wars Astromech

Nice little R2 units. Just what we need to finish off some models. Quick question, what programs are you using (texturing, model layout)? George

    How to preserve paper models‏?

Hi all, really good thread. Best idea is to use acid free paper at the start as mentioned above. I have seen this frequently called Museum Grade and Archival if you can't find Acid Free.

    Corona Spy Satellite

Hi, very nice model. I also like the space race stuff. Mostly I just wanted to give you a reply. Looks like you put a lot of work into this. It must be tricky trying to find information on satellites that the military wants kept secret.

Hi, nice model. Quick question, what paper were you using for the model? I have built lots of paper models over the past couple of years but I still have not come across a paper/card stock that I like. Thanks!

    Victorian Sci Fi

Hi, Uhu02 did a great Time Machine. You can find his site at http://uhu02.way-nifty.com/blogpapercraft_ver2/ Also you can find the Psycho house at this link. I know it isn't Sci/Fi, but it is a nice Victorian house that could be used in a diorama...

    R2D2 pep build

Hi all, small clarification on the Yahoo R2D2 builders group. Here is the actual Yahoo group name " r2builders" Just do a search for that in Yahoo groups. Tons of info, blueprints etc. They also have a 1:1 R2D2 paper model there, it is a scale up of a smaller pdf paper model. George

    My first models

Nice! Nice job. I have been building paper models one way or the other since I was a kid (won't tell you how many years ago that was). Lots of my models still look pretty rough. Quick question, on your second picture next to the military truck, you have several crates and barrels. Are those...
