What's the battery/reed switch route? Maybe it's something I could use in my Kato Amtrak passenger cars with the flickering lights. John

DCC or Ready modern Yard Switcher?

I have an NW-2. It's a bit noisy which is a surprise for a Kato loco. I changed one coupler to Micro-Trains coupler but for some reason I can't seem to get the second one right. Does anyone know someone who services loco's and can mount couplers? John

    Another Help please

I want to convert the couplers on a Kato AC4400 to Micro-Trains couplers. Their conversion chart specifies a 2003 coupler. Does anyone have any idea where I can find such an animal. All the sites I've tried don't even list it. Appreciate your help. John

I have an unopened package of Atlas track nails, item 2540, that were sent to me in error. Let me know where to send them and they're yours. John

    Foam and flex-track

I used low temperature hot glue to adhere the Woodland Scenics foam raodbed to the base foam and then used white glue to mount the track to the roadbed. Seems to work OK.

    flex track

I had a soldered joint in a curve which consistently derailed one of my locos. I moved the joint to a straight section and the derailing problem went away. Without being soldered it probably would have been even worse.

Not exactly an N-scale question but

Nolatron, thanks for the suggestion. Looks like a very nice arrangement you have there. I did read up on the BDL168, however, a friend in England was able to get me some LDT RS-8's which I think will work just fine.

Not exactly an N-scale question but

it pertains to an N-scale layout. What do folks use for occupancy detection devices. I've been trying to find Lenz LB101's but there seems to be a worldwide shortage. Now I'm wondering what other alternatives there might be that some of you others know of or have used. Thanks, John

    My second layout

The first one was the n-scale tutorial "Layout for the Absolute Beginner". It never went beyond the track laying stage except that it was wired up enough to have trains running. It now happily resides at the home of a friend. I'm still a beginner but have moved on to this layout with the...

    De-coupler problem

I have 2 Atlas and 1 Kato engine in which the de-coupling wires have literally fallen out of the coupler. Any suggestions on how to repair this problem so the wires stay in place? J

    My maquette

Absolutely fantastic! Would you please tell me about the arch bridge that spans over top of the viaduct. It's best seen in picture 3 and looks like it might be black or green. Who makes/sells it please. I've been looking and looking and that bridge might just do the job. Thanks, John

    DCC controlled turnouts

Is there a conventional system for addressing turnouts that are dcc controlled? Or does one just start with 1 and go up from there? I'm going to have a total of 55 turnout motors on my layout and would like to get the addressing right the first time. Thanks, John

The tracing wheel is called a pounce wheel and works great. I just used one to transfer my 1:1 printout to foam. I got mine from Micro-Mark. John

    Pink foam

Dave R. If I'd only known about foam being available in Sanford I would have driven over. Well maybe next time. As far as having Home Depot order it, I tried that and they were quite willing. The only catch was that I had to buy 96 sheets of 1" and 48 sheets of 2". That was just a bit more...

    Pink foam

Well finally I have what must be the most expensive pink foam in North America. I hunted all over Florida to no avail. It just doesn't seem to be available in this part of the country. So, I had my son-in-law ship me some from Ontario by Fedex for a small fortune. Now I have more than I need and...
