Eastern Tn logging on the DG CC & W RR 1928

The layout looks great Bill. Love the mill. Will it have a removable roof so that you can see the rafter detail and machinery? Is the donkey scratch built as well? It looks great. Hope to see more soon. I am getting ready to do some scratch building as well. I want to build a Lathe and stave...

1st structure in my sawmill complex complete

Thanks Bill. I bought all my Keystone kits on Ebay, but they are starting to get quite pricey now. When the bandsaw mill comes up it usually sells for between $125.00-$180.00. It originally sold for $59.95. Now you can't even buy the machinery for that price. I also have the planing mill, kiln...

Open season for Spammers on Zealot

Mountain Man, everyone here has a right to their own opinion, not only you. If you were as smart as you seem to think you are, you would realize this. You have been doing nothing but complain and call people down for no reason. I said you were acting like a child, because you are, plain and...

Open season for Spammers on Zealot

Mountain Man you know as well as everyone else that Ron's site didn't crash your internet connection. Everyone here is wondering what is going on, but trying to chew off the forum members heads as well as all the staff is really childish. Do what you should have done in the first place and...

    Collectible Kits?

I have approximately 50 craftsman style kits. Some are getting quite rare, like the Tom's Railroad Corner kits I have. Others, like the dozen Campbell kits I have are not so rare but make very nice structures. In my opinion, they were made to be built, not to be kept on a shelf to collect dust...

Here's a better picture of the background. My next project is a DVD on how to make this realistic backdrop in just a few evenings. Its so easy anyone can do it.

1st structure in my sawmill complex complete

Thanks Steamhead. Yes, most of the lumber is made from tongue depressors I bought at a dollar store. I just cut them to length and then slice em up in the size I want. I also used balso wood to get some different color and texture.

1st structure in my sawmill complex complete

This is how the models look when put together. Just have to plant the buildings now and do a few details. Then it will be ready for the layout when it gets underway.

1st structure in my sawmill complex complete

They are both Campbell Scale model kits in HO scale. The main roof on the first structure is metal that comes in the kit. It looks like tin foil before it is painted. Ron.

Thanks Mountainman. Taking a day off from modelling so nothing new to show today. Have to get my garden cultivated so we can plant by the weekend. So far it has been too cold and wet for gardening.

1st structure in my sawmill complex complete

Hi guys. The shingles I am using come from Seirra Scale Models. They come in packs with five sheets 2 1/2" X 5 1/2".They are then cut to size. They also come in three different thicknesses. I am using the middle thickness now, but next time will try the thin ones also. It is very labour...

1st structure in my sawmill complex complete

I use real cedar shingles for most of my structures as I really like the look of them. Takes forever to apply them, though.

1st structure in my sawmill complex complete

I managed to get the wood glued into the lumber rack. I wanted it to look like a busy lumber yard so cut a bunch of my own out of tongue depressors to load the shelves. The kit doesn't supply much for the lumber rack and in very limited sizes.

This is the beginnings of the lumber storage rack. We'll see if I get anything else done to post tomorrow.

1st structure in my sawmill complex complete

Hi guys. Been a long time since I've had a chance to get some modelling done. I have finally started construction of the second half of Saez Sash and Door. There is a ton of wood to stain in this kit. I use a combination of leather dye for the first background color and then give everything a...

    Need help finding instructions

Thanks Epaw. I tried them already. They don't have instructions for any of the TRC kits. I may just have to try building it from the photos. Good thing I have those. They are really nice kits by the looks of the photos.
