    Mi-28 HAVOC

I also have this Maly kit. As for being collectible ($), I received it as a freebie when I ordered from papermodelstore. I do plan to build it, maybe this summer. Brad

    Modelik Mercedes Benz L 3000

Thanks for the info, josve. I wonder if I should have bought the 1:25 to fit with the rest of my vehicles.

    Modelik Mercedes Benz L 3000

I really like the lock on the toolbox. Modelik could have just printed in on, but it looks much better 3-D.

    Modelik Mercedes Benz L 3000

josve: Thanks. I am following your Kubelwagen thread with great interest. I also have this model on the shelf for later tortu...er...amusement. Since you have both the 1:25 and 1:16 kits, I'll ask if there are any major differences. Brad

    Modelik Mercedes Benz L 3000

Hey Piterpanzer: I painted only the tires. Everything else (chassis, engine, rims) is original. I will not paint anything else (except for edges) unless I really mess it up. Brad

    Modelik Mercedes Benz L 3000

Some tires. I painted the tires black because I thought the originals were too gray and it was too hard to color all of the tread edges well enough.

    Modelik Mercedes Benz L 3000

I've made some progress on this model, so I thought I would start a thread. I am having a very good time building this one. It is very detailed and the fit is excellent. The colors are sparse, gray and darker gray, but it looks nice. Here is the engine ready for mounting.

    MM 1-2/2004 Cutty Sark

Hey Guys: I was not offended by anyone and did not feel anyone thought my ship wasn't good enough. I guess I was just a bit frustrated because I stated early on that I did not complete the rigging and several folks continued to point out that very fact. My apologies for seemingly...

    MM 1-2/2004 Cutty Sark

Sometimes I ask myself if building the model is a means to an end (a completed model) or the end itself (the building process). I guess it depends on the model and how much fun it is building it.

    MM 1-2/2004 Cutty Sark

Thanks to all for your encouraging comments and compliments. Because of them, I will probably post more photos of future builds on the site. On the other hand... I felt I stuck my neck out when starting this new thread. I originally posted a single photo on Phil's "Challenge" thread. I am...

    MM 1-2/2004 Cutty Sark

I placed wire in two of the masts because the tight thread used for rigging pulled them forward. None of the spars are reinforced. The upper parts of the masts are pretty fragile. I have no idea how I am going to travel with it. I need to take it to school in the fall for a display. I am...

    MM 1-2/2004 Cutty Sark

I admit that I know next to nothing about the ship, so thank you for the new info. The sails are paper and included in the kit. The Victory only provides templates for fabric sails...Grrr.

    MM 1-2/2004 Cutty Sark

The rigging is about 40-50% finished. I quickly get bored and frustrated when a model requires a lot of pieces other than paper. I like models that provide templates for wire parts and such, but also includes paper parts for those who wish to keep it paper. For example, I wished the Cutty...

    MM 1-2/2004 Cutty Sark

Tirta: It took about three weeks to complete the Cutty Sark. Even though it has a lot of parts, it goes together quickly and easily. And remember, I left out some of the detail like full rigging. The other ships failed for several reasons. ONE: My skill level was not ready for hull...
