    Track Ballast

I used the brown mixed with light gray and a small amount of black added in and I'm extremely happy with mine. The color variations in the ballast look cool. The gray mellowed out the darkness of the brown and since I'm running mostly steam the black looks like lost coal. But, do what you like...

Which Direction Do You Run Your Trains?

both. I have some locos that actually run better backwards at this point. I'm a firm believer in the fact that the gears, especially plastic ones, wear unevenly if you don't reverse them. So, even if I'm running clockwise, I will pick up an engine and turn it around and run it backwards too...

LOL! Not to worry. I've been to one game this year and went to only one last year! I spend much more time with my "toys"!:thumb:

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part I

I'm not a huge fan either, but hey, it's the Ducks! I live and work in Corona, just a few miles east. I'm a Angles fan first and mostly!

    Styrofoam scenery?

I've seen a guy use the foam in the cans before and after it set he carved it up. It came out real nice! I use white foam for building up scenery and then plaster it. Works out real well. Just bust it up over a trash bin, you'll still get some balls but it works just fine. Normally when covering...

    the bridge is done

Well, that may be just the ticket! Thanks, I really hadn't thought of that. I was ready to soak the wood and clamp it to the curve and let it dry and all that stuff, but this would be MUCH easier! Thanks again! :thumb:

    the bridge is done

Great Job! I have to build one that is slightly curved. I'm hoping someone will post a "how to" for that! Again, very nicely done!

    Help finding pink foam

Yep, I live in so cal too, not far from u in Corona. No pink or blue foam, has to do with what it's made out of or something. You may find some in the Big Bear or Arrowhead area cause of the cold there. But I think it's a state thing and a call up there first may save you some time. If you find...

    weathering rail

Wow! Almost as many methods as there are modelers! LOL! Myself, I use dollar store flat brown spray paint. I tape of and cover everything i don't want paint on. The points on the turnouts for sure. I spray from the side and then spray from the other side. The flat brown actually looks very good...

    New here

Sweet! Now all I have to do is find a 70's era N scale Bachmann F9! No problem! LOL!!! I may have to take the tender down and have it checked out at the big train store in Orange County. They may have the wheels in metal that would work.

    New here

Hey Ray! I have that same 2-4-0 that you picture here but I have repainted it, it has that same tender. I believe it's a Riviossi (spelling is wrong, I know!) I'm looking for metal wheel sets the same size of those on the tender so I can put pick ups on it. I know the performance on that little...

Erratic operation of a ready to run MRC in Roundhouse Engine

I guess I wasn't real clear on how you do this. It isn't a big deal to do. Just take the quarter at an angle and rub it back and forth between the rails. The quarter is a perfect size for this and it will remove any scenic spray of paint from the inside of the rails at the spot in question. It...
