Scenic & Relaxed update: not much but...

This is what I love about this hobby. People are willing to take their time and experiment a little, and share the techniques that are successful. You are the world class chef sharing your recipes so that others can enjoy the food! Well done, P, it looks great, and I will be using your techniques!

    4x8 figure 8 crossing

Judging from that, the only way he gets the outer loop to fit on the 4x8 is with 60 degree crossings....no way it fits using 90s.....

    Unpowered Remote Turnout Controls

I'm getting to the point where I need to make a decision on this subject. I'm very interested in the controls available from www.humpyard.com. They look and work great from everything I'm told. I've searched this topic but I'm not having any luck finding modelers who've posted complete tutorials...

Scenic & Relaxed update: not much but...

Looks great, P, especially the ballast. I love this track plan, it's got some nice sweeping lines for such a modest size.

    Industry for Passing Sidings

I have a fairly tight N scale layout and I'm curious to know what kind of industries are able to be placed on a passing siding, rather than on a spur of it's own. I have room for only 2 spurs in the center, but my passing siding is fairly long and can support the placement of at least one...

    where can i find this??

Thanks for the extra photos, DW. You may have inspired me to build one for my N scale. I like the fact that it can be located on a passing siding, without needing it's own spur, although you have one there. Excellent work, weathering, the whole 9 yards.:thumb:

    Modelling in different scales?

You can fit a double loop inside a 24"x 48" piece of plywood, with sidings in the center, and this is not as uncommon as you might think. But for some running room and realistic industry sidings, the minimum I would go for is a hollow door size (30"x 80")...you can really make that size into a...

    Transitioning Rock Mold Castings

I'm working with some nice castings I made, and I'm curious to know some of the different techniques that are used to transition between castings. There's always a gap of sorts between each outcropping. How do you fill the bigger gaps so they look natural? I've seen some foliage hide the...

    Disabling Thread Subsciption

Everytime I post in a new thread I get an email notification for each and every post that follows. Very unnecessary and annoying, and I see no way to change the default setting in the control panel. Anyone know how to disable it?

    www.internettrains.com bad experiences!!!

I find this behavior outrageous and completely unacceptable. The purpose of forum is to speak openly about subject matter pertaining to our hobby, and in some cases our professions. When products and service cannot be openly scrutinized to educate the users who ultimately pay for them, the site...

Crazy video of high speed train surfer

People have been doing stupid death defying stunts for a 1000 years. As George Carlin would say (and he's the conducter, so he knows what he's talking about), "The kid that swallows all the marbles doesn't get to grow up and have kids of his own." So allow me to rephrase so I don't disagree...

    Atlas remote turnout

I had that problem too. Sometimes the "snap" action of the switch locking the position holds too much tension to release it to the other side. I opened up the housing and just put a tiny amount of grease between stub and housing slot and it works just fine now.

    Help w/ extruded foam

Greetings all. I am working on layout with rock formations carved out of pink extruded foam, and I am interested in how some of you may have applied paint to this. I'm still a little confused on the washes process. My plan was to prime it with water based gray primer a couple of times, and...
