    Going to start over...

I can add something to the do's and don'ts thread. Don't keep building to your layout if you arent happy with the way it's heading. I have a 8X16 ft layout that I haven't touched in almost a year. Mainly because I didn't like the way it was heading. Think I'm going to tear it down and restart. I...

    Happy?

Not sure if I'm happy with the way my layout is heading. I know it's my first major undertaking and there is only so much I can do in the space that I have, but I'm not sure if I should at least tear it down to the track and start the scenery again. I would hate to start from that point and...

Plaster of Paris and Sculptamold Playtime

Practical experiences only... What's the playtime for a bucket of plaster of paris and sculptamold? I want to get down on my next days off and I want to prepare. I don't get alot of time to work on the layout so I have to cram as much buiding in as possible.

    Plaster cloth, Sculptamold, or both?

Working on my styrofoam elevations and I'm not sure what I should use. LHS owner used Sculptamold on everything and it looks great. Can Sculptamold be laid down on a thin layer of plaster cloth? Thinking about using the plaster cloth to smooth them out and following up with the Sculptamold.

    More comments about the gauge.

What's in a name? What's in the way it's laid out? It still beats the alternative. It's still a free website people. Some forget that it takes time and money to do this. just my .02

    Switch Problems

I'm sure I and others have beaten this one to death but here we go again. Running atlas switches and some, not all of my locos, have a problem with them. The front trucks make the turn but the rears continue on straight. Any thoughts?

    Weight

What's the easiest way to add weight to rolling stock without having to tear them apart?

    I'm about to snap...

Ok, I know there are a few of you out there that think this is a family forum but I'm about to snap. I'm running the Atlas Snap switches and I have one word to describe Atlas's product. CRAP... They seem to want to send the consist off into any dirction that they choose. Half of the rolling...

    Going out of business

For all of us in the Southern California Inland Empire: Red Canyon Trains in Banning, California is having a going out of business sale. If you live in the area, you might look them up. I stopped by there today but unfortunatly, I just paid all of my bills so I had no money to spare.

    Oops

Just got through wiring the track and the switches. I ran one of my engines around the track to test the switches but when I ran it in reverse. The snow plow hit the snapswitch and came to sudden stop. I laid the two turn outs to close to the radius and it doesnt give the engine time to...

    Thomas and Friends.

Having a 22 month old that LOVES trains, I find my self watching Thomas and Friends alot lately and I've come to this conclusion. The Sodor Railway must have the worst safety record in the industry. I would definetly option for insurance before I ride that rail!

This is way off topic but I had to show it off. I just hope it doesn't take me away from my layout.

    Floquil colors

My hobby shop owner say this is rail brown and so does Floquil, but I would swear this was Olive Drab. What do you think?

    Rail Gaps

I was glueing HO track to the roadbed when I realized that there was a couple mm gap between a set of rails. Now this stuff is set isn't coming up. Has anyone ever had any luck filling the gap with solder? Any suggestions?

    First Amature Layout

Well here we go. Right off the bat I screwed up and used 2X4's. In my defense, they were cheaper than the 1X4's. I'm almost ready to lay roadbed but I was waiting for another reversing module to come in at my LHS. The track sets well and the only trouble spots are at the turnouts; usually me...

    Lenz LK100

Accidentally posted this in the DCC Formum so please excuse the multiple post. Just installed a reversing loop module on my layout. Sweet... If you have used one of these then you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, then you have to get one. Only problem I am having is that I have set...
