It does seem like a lot but I've never heard anyone say they wish they made their yard smaller but I've seen a lot who wished they made it bigger. Once I get to actually laying track I can make adjustments but I'm not planning anything else for that section of the bench right now.

I haven't finalised the track plan for the yard but I have 2" x 16 feet to work with. Less really in length when I take into account the area leading out onto the main etc. Say 2' x 13' or 14'. Depending on how much of that I use I may fit in an industry in there as well.

My space is very similar to yours (only reversed) and I've gotten some good advice here. Check my thread "The Latest Version"

Thanks Andrew, that's a good idea. The biggest problem I see now is that by starting the blue line so much further down the table I not longer have the 16 feet I need to go up 4" at 2%. I'm going to have to play with it and see how it works out. I'm wondering if I could take the blue line around...

Yes, there is access all the way around except along the top, which is against a wall. It's half of a garage. I'm going to try and place the track so that there is no more than a 24" reach as much as I can.

I tried to draw it with your suggestiosn Russ, is this what you meant? I think this has possibilities. I'm concerned about the fact that the blue is pretty much just an oval. I suppose though with spurs and industries that will not matter. Should I continue the black around on the other side...

Can you point out where or offer a solution? I followed the plan around and there are two reversing loops and the black and blue connect in two places. I'm not thrilled with the plan, what do you suggest to improve it?

I think I may have figured it out. I hunted down every picture of GP7 I could find on Google and I think they are fake ditch lights.

Thanks, that just leaves me with the tiny black things. They appear to have hatches of some sort on them.

It's brand new. The exploded view indicates that those black pieces are part of the window asspembly. Maybe I'm supposed to just mount the windows on top of the windows they aready have in place? Am I to just glue these things to it? The box (air conditioner?) is shown on top of the locomtive...

This is a Proto GP7II (with sound), I got it a few weeks ago and am just now getting around to installing the couplers. Also in the package are a whole bunch of things identified only as "consumer installed parts" I can see there are two windows, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do...

I do have a yard! I also have a bench that is about 28 feet long but I can only use 16 feet of it. The layout makes a 90 degree benchwork turn at 16 feet but the bench actually continues on. We need it for storage so I can't use all of it. It might be funny to have my crew headed in that...
