    1950's era team track structures?

What sort of structures can you find in a 1950's era team track? I currently have a freight house, and I'll be working on a yard office soon. Can those 2 structures that I mentioned be found on a team track? What other structures can I add?

    Ship in a layout itch...

I'm thinking of making a paper Fletcher class destroyer model in my HO layout. Perhaps there is one I can find in the internet that can be scaled to HO well? Btw, I'm modelling in the 1950's, so I think it might be interesting since it was still in commission then (though I think it would have...

Is it possible to electrically isolate Bachmann ez tracks?

I'd like to know if there is a way (preferrably cheap) to electrically isolate Bachmann ez tracks. My purpose is to make blocks out of them. It appears to me that ez track is designed for DCC. But I prefer to stay with DC.

    Chalk for weathering?

I'd like to know what colors of chalk I could use to weather engines and freight cars. I think this will be the easiest option for me since there are a lot of architecture and arts supplies here in my vicinity. Please help me out. :)

Will an Athearn UP wide vision caboose look realistic with a UP GP35?

Will an Athearn UP wide vision caboose look realistic with a UP GP35? I have a spare Athearn wide vision caboose at my hand, and it would look pretty if it was trailing some freight cars and an engine. :) Also, will an Athearn SF cupola caboose mix well with a SF GP35?

    Fm h-16-44?

I'd like to know how the FM H-16-44 was used in the 1950's. I really don't understand what a road switcher does. Can I use it in the mainline as a freight engine and with a caboose?

Until when did the EMD FTs remained visible?

Until when did the EMD FTs were still visible? I'm planning to add that engine made by Bachmann to my 1950's era layout that currently sport F7As and some RDCs. Actually, I'm just looking for an inexpensive engine I could couple with a Santa Fe cupola caboose. Perhaps there are other engines...

How to strip paint from an Athearn wide vision caboose?

I'd like to know how you would strip the paint of an Athearn wide vision caboose. Model paint stripper can be bought from static model shops here in the Philippines, and it appears to be my only choice. How could I effectively use this?

Is there a shop that accepts PayPal and can ship to the Philippines?

I'm wondering if there is such a thing as a model railroad shop that accepts paypal and can ship to the Philippines. We're a bit wary in giving our credit card numbers, and PayPal is much more acceptable to us. I'm sorry that I couldn't find this on my own. I'm not an expert on this hobby...

HO paper models that I made :)

Hi everyone. I've made some HO paper models of a mid-size freight house and a small passenger station. Both are meant for 1950's era layouts. And I believe they can at least pass as mockups. Please tell me what you think about them. And if you got suggestions, please let me know. :) Btw, the...

What's the difference between a remote and manual Atlas snap switch?

Please pardon me for the ignorance. What's the difference between a remote and manual Atlas snap switch? I'm getting some code 100 switches, and I'm using Atlas track.

How do you properly add external magnets?

I'm considering to add external magnets to my Athearn F7A's motor. This engine was bought in the 90's and I think it's American made. So how do you properly add the magnets? Should they attract to the magnet inside by positioning the opposite poles, or repel by positioning like poles?

How do you find the Bachmann GP-50 (Southern)?

How do you find this loco? http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/products.php?act=viewProd&productId=1855 I bought one from Beijing (Yin Ke Hobby Shop), and it was priced at a bargain. I don't like DCC yet, and DC engines are more affordable to me. I think it is a good runner. It does...

How much mechanical imperfections in engines do you tolerate?

I'm just curious: how much mechanical imperfections in engines do you tolerate? I'm in the process of reviving a late-90's era Athearn SD40-2. What I can do with it is make 4 of the 6 axles work, and use a motor that's not in perfect condition. I can't buy axle gears and a new motor right now...

If you're going to choose between these 2 for asphalt roads...

I have 2 options for asphalt roads: flat black paper board or sandpaper. If you were going to choose between these 2, which one would you choose? If you choose sandpaper, what kind should I buy? I'm actually limited to these 2 choices since I live in Metro Manila. Mike B.

Could you recommend a model rr shop in Europe?

I might be visiting Europe late this year. In particular, I'd be in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Perhaps you could recommend a model RR shop in Europe? Cities within the Netherlands, Belgium, and probably France would be fine. I'm looking for ordinary model rr products that are a little easy on...

Are express reefers necessarily be a part of a passenger train?

I have an Athearn express reefer: Athearn - HO RTR 50' Express Reefer, ARE #256 I don't know if it should necessarily be a part of a passenger train. I want it to be a part of a freight train.

    Felt grass?

I'm considering felt grass for scenery. The colors I have access to are green, light green, yellow, and red. What would be a nice combination for grass that is in full glory? :) Btw, I have no access to ground foam. :( I am also considering using saw dust for scenecking. I can easily get a...

What are the look alikes of the Bachmann GP50(high hood)?

If the F7A looks similar to a FP7A, am I correct to say that the Bachmann GP50 (high hood) looks like a GP40? If so, what can be considered noteworthy differences between a GP50 and a GP40?
