Peco Insulfram vs. Elctrofrog & DCC

I'm committed to using Peco track/turnouts for my soon-to-be-built layout. I've added the decoder boards to my locomotives and ordered my DCC system (NCE radio). I attended the January show at the Big E in Springfield, MA. and asked some questions about DCC. I would like to double check with...

    Mac software

Shortliner, I see you're a member of the Yahoo group. Someone there is also looking for Peco to add. Where do I get a copy of the program? Thanks, Bruce

    Mac software

Does anyone know of Mac software for layout design? I've found some European venders but didn't see Peco in their library. Love my Mac and this is sometimes the price one pays...shortage of software. Thanks, Bruce

    undecorated freight cars

I'm trying to find undecorated Nscale freight cars so I can put my own road name on them. Does anyone know if they are available? I want to stay away from Atlas. Thanks, Bruce

N scale building collection for sale

Second reply to your posting. I had a little more time to look at the photos more closely. I'm interested in buying all of the buildings in the last photo. Please advise. Thanks, Bruce

N scale building collection for sale

That's a lot of buildings. How are you going to list them, as a bulk lot or individually? I'm certainly interested in some if they're sold either as small groups of as individual. Please let me know when you decide. Thanks, Bruce

    turntable

Poor manners on my part, please accept my apologies. Those are pretty pics. You're absolutly right about the quality of the kit - it is poor and the directions? Forget 'em. I think I'm going to whine and see what size bone they might throw my way. Bruce

Peco turnout springs - N scale

Problem solved. The sacrificial turnout must have been an ancient piece because the new Pecos I bought have an easily removed piece between the points. Take that off and there's the spring just itching to be removed - piece of cake. Bruce

Peco turnout springs - N scale

Yep, there is a piece between the points. I thought it might be there to maintain gauge. I did manage to remove one spring from the bottom. I cut the plastic cover over the throw bar and took out the spring. In doing that the ties on the point side loosened a little but I don't think it's...

Peco turnout springs - N scale

I'm looking at a pile of Peco turnouts sitting next to an equal number of Tortise switch machines. After looking at the turnouts, my inclination is to remove the spring from the underside; however there's a plastic cover over the spring that appears to be glued. Cut it out and remove the spring...

    turntable

I decided to make a call to Caboose in Colorado and ask them about Nscale turntables. There is a rumor afloat that Walters is working on an N scale version of their HO turntable, that, according to the fellow I spoke with worked flawlessly. His thought was maybe sometime mid summer it might be...

    turntable

Thanks for the info, vilefileman. So Tomix you like and Walther's, in your opinion, is not worth the $$? Is it the same one linked, four times...., in post #2? If it is, I've ordered it, and the motor from Walter's. When it arrives, I'll do a close inspection and if it looks too cheesy back it...

    turntable

Thanks, Paul. $20.00 is only a couple cups of coffee these days so I guess it's worth a shot. I think maybe I should pick up a copy of the Walther's catalog.

Does anyone make a turntable for N scale? If not, can someone suggest a place to go for plans? Thanks

    Peco or Atlas?

Thanks, Roland for the info. I was planning on using Peco since I have some left from years ago. I just purchased two Tortise machines because they seem to be what most folks prefer, maybe they're not using Peco turnouts. I like the idea of a slow moving switch but is that possible with Peco and...

    Peco or Atlas?

After nearly 30 years away from this obsession I'm dreaming of finding the time to build my N scale layout. Not that it pertains to the question, but the time period is the transition from steam to diesel in some fictional part of the US. Here's my first question: Peco or Atlas for...
