    Pre-Weathered Lettering

I thought I'd share the beginnings of an experiment I'm working on with everyone, for my own home made lettering. I'm going to be purchasing (at some time in the future....) http://www.pulsarprofx.com/decalpro/Vertical/1_MENU/1b_Overview/Overview.html Here's a link to a proto pic I've based...

I'd Like to get started in G Scale

Of course, the more I think about it, I'd need a few freight cars to go behind the engines, and I'd probably extend the display track enough that I could run them all a couple of feet....

I'd Like to get started in G Scale

I myself don't have any urge to build a garden railroad (although gardening is my other main hobby, on par with if not surpassing my modelling) - however, I do have a fascination with the detailing possibilities in large scale, and am thinking that a USA Trains SD40-2 and an Aristo SD45 in...

    Model Railroad Hobbyist Magazine

I just finished reading their 2nd online issue - this is really a great magazine, and an internet freebie!! http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/ Also, they've got an add for a DIY dry transfer system that seems to do all the things and ALPS printer can do and more - namely make white and...

    World's Longest Layout

The reporter said they have spent $12,000 building the layout. If someone can confirm that wasn't an error, I may have to start ordering all my model rr supplies from Germanysign1 If I remember correctly from reading about this layout in Model Railroader a few years ago, the price tag is more...

    Is it possible...

I was thinking a mini-scene, with guys working on it. Bare metal showing where they've been grinding or sandblasting the surface.

    Nu-Line Structures?

I don't know about Nu-Line, but those structures are easy to scratchbuild from 4'x8' styrene sheets from plastics dealers. Get a big bag of Plastruct doors and windows, a long metal straight edge and square, and your set.

    Is it possible...

Nice looking work - great save! Your note about having more cars "in the shops" gave me an idea - or at least bolstered one I had as soon as I read that this was a metal car - one of these might me great to have on a RIP track or in a shop, undergoing some body work. You could sand through the...

    My Miami Layout

Great looking modelling and progress, Kurt. And that bright blue sky backdrop is just right.

    My Miami Layout

I agree. Here are a few pics I snapped this morning, that you may find helpful - unfortunately, no trains out.

    My Miami Layout

One thing I might consider adding to the module is working in some water - canals run everywhere in Miami. As for soil color, the makeup of the local geology is basically coral and lime rock, and there's a lot of powdery white sand around. I'll snap a few pics & upload them.

To ALL HO SCALE Steel Mill Modeler's Out There!!!!

I've got too many projects "in the works" sign1 I've been in a somewhat nomadic state for the past few years, so my shop / workspace never gets fully set up  At some point in the (hopefully) near future, this will be changing. In the meantime, I work on smallish projects that aren't too...

    HO Scale Injection Molding Equipment

I've got a Preiser kit with crates and molded plastic containers that measure a gaylord, so I'll use a few of those, though the extruder will have some piping indicating the pellets are continuously fed with compressed air from the large silos outside (where they're delivered by covered hopper...

To ALL HO SCALE Steel Mill Modeler's Out There!!!!

It depends on a lot of things - I don't necessarily find buying a well-detailed model always costs more than building one, though building one stretches the cost over a longer time of model building (which I enjoy): Little bags of detail parts - cheap, yes, but $2 and $3 starts adding up when...

    Question about real materials.....

Be sure to run a strong magnet thru it to pull out any bits if iron, either shavings that may have been missed or iron particles that make up part of the mix.

    HO Scale Injection Molding Equipment

Here are the pics I based my pipe extrusion line on - like I said, it's a composite of the prototypes.

    Pallets of bricks and Blocks?

Those card models look great way to fill a lot of space quickly and cheaply, then add a few more detailed pallets nearer the foreground. You could have the look of a very busy operation in no time.
