    Printed bricks really don't look bad. You can buy embossed printed bricks that are really nice. Printed bricks have the advantage of randomly colored bricklets, which would be tough to do on plastic sheet bricks. I'll see if I have some in a pic around here.

Wood gets a dark wash for wethered unpainted wood, like the truck sides (bad example actually, the wash got frozen and when I used it it had little chunks in it resulting in black spots and specks).
