One more addition to my already expanding locomotive collection

I've always really loved steam, and as new as I am to MRR, I've kinda gotten into these transition era diesels. This one just showed up today in the mail. I still have on the way, yet to arrive: Con-Cor PA1 Life Like E8 These are my new Bachmann Spectrum F7A and B both powered:

Switch trouble, loco trouble, or am I just loco?

Currently the only locomotive I have is a Bachmann standard 2-6-2 praire. I have 4 Atlas switches and then had to go back to LHS for another and the saleman talked me into Peco electrofrog for such a small loco, and I think I see why because I don't have any trouble with my Peco. My little loco...

    Bachmann 2-6-2 Praire trouble?

This is the first loco I've owned in N so I'm not really too sure how it should 'feel' on the track. It seems to have alot of slop on the track but if I measure from flange to flange on the locomotive drive wheels I get the same measurement as the track. I can grab the top of the locomotive and...

    Amazing sound

or lack there of. I have been nailing my track down to the cork roadbed and onto the plywood. Just the sound of the train rolling along the track was still pretty loud. But with my addition I started, I laid some track down with out nailing it... I decided to run the train on it (don't ask...

    My layout begins

Okay, so here goes with my mini N layout. I first started with a 26"x48" surface of 3/4" birch plywood. I then carved a 26"x48" square out of a sheet of 5/8" drywall to provide the roadbed. I haven't seen anyone use drywall and I don't know how well it will work, but since I have leftover...

    My mini N layout

Just got back from the LHS and bought all the track and a book. The book: Atlas' "Introduction to N scale railroading" My layout plan: N-2. I flipped it upside down because I want my yard down at the bottom left. I think this layout has ALOT of potential for expansion off to the left where...

    Aquiring N scale parts

first of all, please accept my apologies for piggy backing on gregbva123's thread. I have several other questions so decided to start a new thread. I am going to start a mini N scale layout while I do my O gauge for my son. I plan on getting the majority of my N parts off ebay. I am having...

New O gauge high wall layout

Okay guys, so here's a pic of the plan. I think it would be really neat to cut out a tunnel that goes into the office and back out the other side. But I'm not sure what would look better, a short tunnel through the corner of the office, or have it enter above the hallway and go all the way...
