    Clean slate...

I would suggest the 8'X7' "nook" for your workbench. Then you could do a nice modular bridge that's 1280 scale feet. (whoa... a 1280 foot bridge?)

    Bachman Spectrum Steam?

I have the Bachmann standard 2-6-2 and it is a great runner. I finally broke down and made it a 0-6-0 and it runs even better now, without the front truck hanging up on me.

    My First Structure

I'm not much of a painter. In fact I really dislike painting. I guess if I want to model trains, it's something I'll have to learn to like.

How is that logging train going to turn around? Or are you just going to run it backwards?

    My First Structure

Can you post some pictures of your 'drybrushing' technique? Can you really get as sharp and precise as Nscale with an airbrush? How much do those run?

    Another addition

I just received my new Life Like E8 in Southern Pacific Daylight #6051. I LOVE it! I thought my Bachmann Spectrum F7A/B was good - those are nothing compared to this sweet piece! Photos to come shortly! :D

Switch trouble, loco trouble, or am I just loco?

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I played around with it (alot) tonight and I think I got it. I was fiddling around trying to get the rear truck out and ended up 'accidentally' taking the drivers out. I think I bumped the siderods a little because I was able to rotate the siderod on one...

Switch trouble, loco trouble, or am I just loco?

I've done something very very horrible last night. I was so pleased with my little Prairie, it ran like a little champ except for the slight problem I was having with my front trucks. So I decided to try taking those front ones off like skipgear suggested. Then, like he said - it looked kinda...

    Southern Pacific locomotive usage

I've done alot of looking around that site in the last couple days but almost all the photos only show the locomotive and you can't quite see the train. Thanks though! I'm definately not trying to be exactly prototypical, but I wouldn't want to be pulling cattle behind a Daylight E8 if it never...

    Southern Pacific locomotive usage

Freight or passenger, or mixed, matched? Were the locomotives painted in daylight scheme ONLY used for passenger? How about the Blackwidow scheme? PA-1's ??? E8/E9 Only pictures of these I've seen were in the daylight scheme hauling passenger cars F7A/B I'm pretty sure I've seen...

One more addition to my already expanding locomotive collection

skipgear, They are on separate tracks, sorta. I have the tracks double insulated and I'm using an MRC dualpower 2800. As I recall (2-3 weeks is all it's been ;) ) my Prairie needed more throttle at first too. But I think around 50% it was really humming around the track. Now that it's...

One more addition to my already expanding locomotive collection

Okay, so I really like these units, they are pretty identical as far as speed and they sure are quiet runners, etc. But I also have a B-mann standard Prairie 2-6-2 and it runs like a DREAM down around 15-20% (I really like seeing trains crawl around bends, etc). But these F-units are spectrums...

One more addition to my already expanding locomotive collection

I've got another question. On my Bachmann Standard Prarie 2-6-2 in that photo above, is that supposed to be a working light?

One more addition to my already expanding locomotive collection

I've always really loved steam, and as new as I am to MRR, I've kinda gotten into these transition era diesels. This one just showed up today in the mail. I still have on the way, yet to arrive: Con-Cor PA1 Life Like E8 These are my new Bachmann Spectrum F7A and B both powered:

Switch trouble, loco trouble, or am I just loco?

Wow! I 'pinched' the leads from the tender so they make better contact on the hitch pin of the loco and it will CRAWL across even my plastic atlas switches at 15-20%!!!! I let this little guy run for about 3 hours yesterday at around 25-30% and the slow speed is amazing now! Really smooth...
