Atlas Snaptrack and Bachmann EZ track

bachmann does make an adapter, but the track itself connects fine so you can just shim the atlas up the the right height so you dont really need the adapter (just guessing they are hard to find and unreasonably priced..)

    Tracks with Roadbed or not

The one "pro" to the prefab stuff is that its easy to set up. If you are starting out and don't know how serious you are going to get It wouldnt be a bad plan to buy an ez-track starter set. As soon as you find yourself planning a layout with more than one turnout you'll find out all of the...

Bachmann ez-track code? and Atlas switch

I think the eztrack is code 100, at least I had it mated up with plain atlas stuff at one time. You just have to get the roadbed the right height. You'll probably want to cut the end off of the roadbed if you want to make it look ok. That said I'd ditch the stuff. Just the sound of trains...

    curved turnouts

Thanks, that is really where I started above, the #angles are different between the "shinohara" 100 and the "walthers (made by shinohara)" 83 stuff, and the angle is all they give for the code 100. I dont want to assume a #6 here is the same as a #6-1/2 there.. Anyway, the peco looks like it...

    curved turnouts

there is whole line of Shinohara code 100 on the web site..but no specs, maybe it is new.. Anyway I found one more data point, they have a photo of the peco 'setrack' double curve which I blew up to scale and measured to be roughly 23" inside radius. This will fit just right where I need...

    curved turnouts

yea thanks, thats a start. There don't seem to be any numbers for the code 100 though. Is it safe to assume a #6 code 100 is similar to a 6-1/2 code 83?

    curved turnouts

First a more general question, how come this business has seemingly thousands of online retailers and not a single one of them provides any detailed specifications for the products? Anyway, I see several makers of curved turnouts, walthers, peco.. does anyone have radii, lenght etc...

    seeking short passenger cars

Thanks all, this is a christmas tree layout, so 'cute' is pretty much what we are after. I have an 18in minumum, so longer cars will 'work' but they just don't look right to me. I think the overtons will work well with my IHC 2-6-0.. (If they are wrong period I dont want to know..)

    Life-like or Bachmann train set?

Is bachmann "silver series" a "lesser" grade than spectrum? In any case the silver is quite good quality for a set, metal wheels kadee couplers, NS track, etc (18inch though). Also It came with a good power pack. Some starter sets come with really crummy controlers - I wouldn't base a decision...

    seeking short passenger cars

I'm looking for some short steam era passenger cars that will look right on a tight layout. Ive found a few references to 36-40 ft passenger cars, but can't find anyone who makes them.. Ideas..?
