NuBee Assistance on an Armstrong HO layout

Hi GeorgeHO, Yup, I didn't make it clear on the drawing that the two [right side] loop ends are just a over/under stack; one at 0" elevation and the other at 4". I'll have to think a lot more over the locations of the isolation gaps for the reversing loops. Not quite sure where the gaps...

NuBee Assistance on an Armstrong HO layout

Triplex, the inner loops on the right side are over/under at different elevations (0" & 4"). I'm not 100% sure but I can't see any reversing on the folded dogbone. Triplex, I'm having some trouble understanding this . Would you mind expanding a little for us slowbees here. Is it because...

    Zephyr good for 9x12?

Man I can relate with you on that one. I'm looking at DCC systems for myself and after handling the MRC PA, DT400, and the NCE Pro remotes I can't believe that these products don't have a better human interface for the $$ :( . DigiTrax has dual rotary throttles but no backlighting on the bitty'...

    Hump Yard Purveyance Turnout Control?

Thanks Zedob!! This looks like my first "contribution" back to the forum . Still looking for anyone willing to share their experiences of wire-in-cable turnout control verses electric motor control and some insight into their reasoning why they may have selected one over the other. RT

NuBee Assistance on an Armstrong HO layout

Well, I'm having trouble finding any reversing loops except for the turntable. I drew colored (+ -) lines next to all the tracks and it always comes up with the same color on the same side everywhere. It seems the only isolations needed are the turntable, powered frogs, maybe a programming...

NuBee Assistance on an Armstrong HO layout

Russ, I took your suggestion on the yard and came up with this alternate layout design and added more detail to kinda show whats going on. Picture is attached below. The turntable was moved into a corner and a three-legged yard added along with other minor changes. Should we give the yard an...

NuBee Assistance on an Armstrong HO layout

Russ, the Locos are a mix of P2K SW9/1200, P2K E8/9, some Life-Likes and half a dozen assorted brass or zinc cast steamers. Only one of the steamers have had the open armature motor replaced with a quality 5-pole motor/flywheel arrangement. Thanks Russ. I certainly could use their help! RT

    Hump Yard Purveyance Turnout Control?

Hello all, Has anyone had any experience (direct or indirect) with the Humpyard Purveyance turnout control lever kit? Here's the link: http://www.humpyard.com/ It looks like it works on the "choke pull/wire-in-tube" concept. I'd like to hear from anyone who has either used this contraption...

NuBee Assistance on an Armstrong HO layout

George, I'll have to think long and hard about reversing the elevations. Just don't know what that would do to the scenery...may have to build a rough mini-model to get the "picture". I think the over-under your asking bout' on the upper right is ok. Russ, your the jauggernaut round here ...

NuBee Assistance on an Armstrong HO layout

Russ, Thanks for the framing reinforcement suggestion. After thinking bout' it, I believe my biggest concern regarding the gorge is where on the layout to put it for the best visual effect. To my peabrain the S&C plan just doesn't offer much opportunity for such a feature. I also have...

NuBee Assistance on an Armstrong HO layout

Thanks guys for the input. Please keep it coming...:) Russ, I have visited that site several times in the past year and couldn't find much in the larger tabletop layout configuration. I may be wrong but it seemed that the sizing requirement was to be able to fit into a minivan and upsizing...

NuBee Assistance on an Armstrong HO layout

Tough crowd...but that's exactly what I looking for! ;) I'm not wedded to this particular layout, just the tabletop that I've already built. That's why I posted all this here hoping for just this kind of feedback. Russ, the dotted lines are hidden track on this plan. As the photos of the...

NuBee Assistance on an Armstrong HO layout

Here is J. Armstrong's "Springer and Cinncinatus" HO layout I was considering. I apologize in advance for the image quality of the photo as I don't have a scanner or export means of converting an AutoCadd (.dwg/.dxf) file to a raster based (.jpg/.bmp)file. The track elevations are noted in the...

NuBee Assistance on an Armstrong HO layout

Hello all, I'm a long time lurker and a first time poster. Although this will be my fourth layout [in as many decades..ouch] it has also been the most difficult one to get a handle on. Circumstances have dictated a different method this time around. My previous HO layout was 18'x12'...
