    Hand laying track and turnouts

I'm teaching myself to hand-lay both rail and turnouts (stub HOn3). I'll bookmark this page. Any info will be well read. I acquired a Spiker last xmas, just pulled it out a week or three ago, I keep crushing the ties. But everything is on hold, our 30 year old club just moved and its bench-work...

    HOn3

I have to wait on acquiring new motive power, the CFO just approved a new developer’s workstation for my .NET developer training, the port will have to be worked by the "hand of GOD" or a plastic Triceratops “ala John Allen” But just to get this right, if I can acquire a "Battle Mountain" 0-8-0T...

    Re-gauge N Gauge steam to HOn3. HELP!!

Narrow gauge, rivet counting is frowned on. sign1 You know, its narrow gauge, Freelancing is the norm and rivet counting is frowned on. I was at the club this morning and it’s a group of standard gauge diesel guys, were talking about running a 0-4-4-0T and unexpectedly one member said “narrow...

I want it as a kit So no more kit-bashing? That sucks. After seeing your 2-4-4-? @ Kenosha last year, I have been trying to justify an additional engine. Now I need an engine to work the Harbor/port area on my layout, my 0-4-0T is not large enough a for DCC/sound setup. The port area engine...

    Re-gauge N Gauge steam to HOn3. HELP!!

I don’t know, that’s ¾ of a mil on a 2mm wide wheel. I will give it a shot and see if the wheels (16 drivers) stay true. My concern has always been that they would wobble. After all the years (15?) that I have kept this project on the back burner. Ill try it, the worst that will probably happen...

    hand layed tracks

Hand laid track looks the best. But it is only worth the effort if it is done in an area that it can be viewed with no effort. If you have to look for it, you will do better with a good flex track that has been doctored up and if you have track work that you can’t see use the cheapest track...
