    Big Boy wanted

i can't run it on my layout, just taking pictures. no idea how much it pulls. i did test-runs on a piece of flextrack. the bigboy probably has 30-40 SECONDS of running time.

    Big Boy wanted

if i remember right i paid over $2k with custom and shipping. but i have to warn you. this thing requires 24" minimum radius. i just test-run it on a 3ft flextrack section. no chance to run it on my layout.

    kato,atlas,life- like?

atlas has better details than kato. but for running there's nothing better than a kato. best drive ever produced : kato c44 (same as sd70 and ac4400). of course this is only my opinion.

    repainting

usually atlas shells can be left in 96% alcohol for a few hours or even a day. kato shells should not be left in alcohol for more than an hour ! after about four hours they get brittle. most of the time i soak kato shells for 15 minuts then use an old tootbrush. back in the alcohol for another...

    Big Boy N Scale

i have one of the sakatsu bigboys. excellent model. you can even see the smallest valves. unfortunately they require a 24" minimum radius so i can't run it on my current layout. beautiful but expensive :-(

    Swiss Krokodyl

dick... check inside the pantographs. there should be small latches catching the upper part of the pantos. maybe you need to bend these latches a bit when i was a kid i saw these crocodiles on heavy gravel trains. impressive sight.

bikerdad the dn163k1b fits the sd70. no modifitcations on the shell or decoder needed.

    dcc maniac ??

yeah, almost belt like. now i just need to programm and speed-match all the locos. and of course, still 18 ac4400 to renumber....
  19. S

    dcc maniac ??

bikerdad i assume the dn163k1b will fit cleanly since they need a bit less space than a dn163k1a. somewhere i have a couple of sd70. i'll check that for you.

    dcc maniac ??

delamaize.. plug-in decoders, no soldering needed :-) bikedad... almost. they fit c44/ac440 without any kind of work on either the shell or the decoder. however, digitrax is still unable to design a decoder which fits a sd40/sd40-2. the dn163k1a AND dn163k1b will lift the cab when...
