    can someone tell me.....

    Is this a possability??

Caulk is another option for gluing cork and track. I suggest the cheapest acrylic latex you can find, not the silicone type. A very thin layer is all that is needed I use a putty knife to spread it out, you don't want the stuff bulging up between the ties. I then use track nails to hold the...

Is nickel silver rail Atlas Code 100 ok for DCC operations?

Vanda said it, not an assumption on my part.

Is nickel silver rail Atlas Code 100 ok for DCC operations?

I would suggest only use nickle silver track for your layout. As for turnouts, you will not get a straight answer as to which brand is best. Ask yourself - am I happy with the performance of the Atlas snap switch? can you afford new turnouts at $15 + each? don't switch to brand X because that is...

    fatso layout

Oooooh! British Railways green! I love it, I would like to get some of the Hornby platforms that you show, they are a little hard to find in the US. I knew I should have picked some uo while in the UK. Nice pictures.

Does anyone know who has MRC Prodigy Advance in stock and for sale?

Bob, keep the Athearn's I replied to your other post, so I won't repeat it all here.

Well...I made a decission and finally did it...

Just to second shaygetz, Athearn are one of the easiest to convert to DCC, digitrax makes a solderless decoder for this that just clips into place, isolate the motor and it is ready to go. Get a copy of the October 2004 Model Railroader it has an article on how to convert these locos. Check...

Does anyone know who has MRC Prodigy Advance in stock and for sale?

Bob, if your budget allows I do believe you will be far happier with the Advance, plus no reason to upgrade later. Tonys Train Exchange was taking orders on the Prodigy Advance and saying that they would be available in August, you may check with them. Did you see my reply to your earlier post...

Anyone using the MRC Prodigy DCC System AD150

Bob, I believe you have two choices regarding sound, John D can correct me if I am wrong here, first, the buttons on the handheld controller for bell, horn etc control a separate sound system (AD 751) that is syncronized to the throttle setting, the sound comes from a separate speaker that you...

    A question about brake systems

Are you telling me that the air brake priciple is the same, except that the brakewheel allows for the car to be moved without air pressure?

    A question about brake systems

This is something that has puzzled me, I am familiar with air brake systems on highway trucks, air pressure is required to keep the brakes in the released position, if the system fails and air pressure is lost the the brakes activate stopping the truck. If an air brake trailer is parked then it...

    Slow intro to DCC needed

Andy, I wouldn't plan on a DC power pack to power any DCC system. Most DCC systems come with their own power supply suited to that particular system. Do I have this right, you are planning an outdoor layout that is DCC?

    GP-38 Question

Drive bands / tires should be readily available at any hobby shop, specify for diesel and not steam as steam would be bigger. A word of caution on swapping wheels and couplers, you will soon have more $$ than this set is worth once you start buying metal wheels and Kadee couplers. If you swap...

22 guage wire ok for feeders

I am using HO scale, DCC. I was using 20 guage for my track feeders and now I need more wire. I have plenty of 22 guage solid wire, will this be heavy enough? I have been running a feeder to each piece of flex track. Thanks

    transition from mainline to branch

Let me run this by you, today I noticed on a local branch line that the rail ties are almost sunken into the ground and what little ballast there is spreads out quite a bit, no defined shoulder of any kind. Couldn't I recreate this by not using any cork at all and just place the flex track...
