French Train Sets Rail Record 357.2 Mph

Only problem with the french record attempt - they cheated. The unit had bigger than standard wheels to increase the gearing, it was significantly shorter than a standard trainset, it was made up only of powered cars and had uprated traction motors. Other than that i was arranged as a...

    Bachmann 2-8-0

simple answer - AFAIK no it cant be done - the bachmann 2-8-0 has a large plastic ash-pan under the cab which clips over the socket for the connecting wires between locomtive and tender, also the end of the chassis drops down just below the cab to form the basis of the clip point around the...

Opinion on HO Bachmann Spectrum K4 Pacific?

Ive got a trio of K4S locomotives, two bachmann and one BLI and the bachmann ones are great pullers, will run with pretty much anything behind them as i have fitted mine with DCC chips. They haul 8 passenger cars around my layout without any fuss including up and over a 2% grade. The BLI engine...

Taking time to visit an old friends Traction Layout

LOL, chris, why is the cut down doodlebug familiar to me! My version is probably slightly shorter and a full freight version but its amazing to see someone else having practically the same idea!

    more heritage locos coming

Err, thats not right! CP is bigger (by a long way!) than NS and if UP did CP and NS heritage schemes both NS and CP could sue the ass off UP for illegal use of trade/brand name (whatever it is that railroads consider their name) because they are totally independant Class 1 roads, UP has no...

Any M.O.W nuts out there ?

Lets see, MoW equipment... I have a full MoW train (complete with a second crane tender because i think it looks better that way) from a company called Tru-Scale, an old Athearn 250T crane (with the third crane tender), and this little oddball which is used by my interurban along with two or...

Steel Mill Complex for New Layout

    BLI SD40-2 Reviews anyone?

if your going to remove the sound, dont bother with the broadway - thats the whole point of them. Get another maunfacturers SD40-2 that doesnt have sound. Ive got the BLI SD40 and i think its a great engine (albeit it does have the older athearn bodyshell)

    Bachman FT's

ive got eight (two complete A-B-B-A sets) - one A or B unit alone can pull about twenty cars around our club layout. Very heavy and surprisingly powerful considering their price. not as detailed as more expensive offerings - but then you wouldnt expect it to be!

    What's with the Angled thing?

ii would think its probably a combination of things, firstly an aerodynamic buffer for the aircraft fusealage (otherwise there would be incredbile drag and possible damage to the interior of the fusealge during transport) and i would assume that perhaps the rear end has doors to allow it to be...
