HO scale and 15" radius curves

Ha Elwood, I did some testing a while back with 15" curves. I set up a half circle of 15" R. track and used flex track to make an easment into and out of the turn, forming a teardrop shape. My Bachmann GP50 would pull about fifteen (or push 12) 40' cars through the curve without derailments or...

    Uploading pictures

I argee Don, I guess I made a poor chose of words, I didn't mean to sound like image size and file size were irrelivent. Only that "the gauge" limits didn't apply. I too I'm annoyed by giant pic's that won't fit the screen and make the entire thread that wide. I'm on a 28K dial up so I totally...

    Uploading pictures

Nothin' wrong with that one Herc. Another way to post a pic without restriction is to link to the pic somewhere else on the web (like your homepage or a photo hosting site etc.) using the "insert image" button above the text field when posting.

    Ladder Yards

Ha Scott, welcome to The Gauge. A/D stands for arival and departure. Usually the A/D track is between the main and the yard ladder. I have two #4 atlas turnouts as crossovers and into a yard with the only derail problems I've had is with hoppers that aren't up to weight.

    Linoleum backdrop, pros & cons

The major down side of luaun is that it's made to be stained rather than painted. it takes a lot of priming and sanding to get the smooth surface that masonite has to start with.

    Linoleum backdrop, pros & cons

I'm got to agree with Don, I don't think there's anything thinner, stiffer, smoother, or cheaper than 1/8 masonite. IMHO About $9 for a 4'x8' last time I looked.

    Our Club's New Proposed Layout....

It's been said that "a camel is a horse designed by committee". or "a compromise is when no one gets what they want." It's hard to get a group to agree on anything, looks like you guys have done a pretty good job.

14 year old needs help asap

Ha Joshua, My suggestion would be to start with a simple loop with a siding or passing track on each side. That way you can get some trains running and "get your feet wet" later you can add more sidings, loops etc. when your skills and interests have developed.
