I say this counts for Conrail even though it has CSX #8615

    So what has happened here?

Looks like it's been a little while ago since the manufacture address of EMD is still LaGrange. I believe all their work is in London, ON now. By the shape i'd guess they're SD80s or 90s

Modified Scenic Ridge Layout version 18...

I have an auto reverser from Tony's and it didn't really matter which set of isolated rail joints the loco passed over, the train still kept going the same direction. This is with DCC of course. I'm not exactly sure why an auto reverser wouldn't "re-reverse" as you put it. I've always thought...

    KATO's UP Heritage Units

I only liked about half the designs that they did. I was dissapointed in the paint scheme of the SP unit. I picked 3. I wish they would come out with it in HO though the Tower 55 engines are too $$$$$!

I personally use 560 ohm 1/4 watt because it's still below the threshold and provides a desirable amount of brightness

    Running trains versus scenery

Although I love having scenery to run my trains through; my focus would be on running trains/operations. Scenery is the necessary evil. I go for realism but I don't overdo it because that detracts from running trains. No superdetailing here.

That looks like O scale, is it? I love how much better the profile of the rail looks in 2-rail O

    Interlocking Towers

Well yes, I was generalizing it for simplicity. There are always differences when it comes to the area you are at. I consider the bypass tracks the mainline because in certain cases they are labeled as such. M1, M2, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and so on.

    Interlocking Towers

Basically yes. An interlocking tower is designed to control movement on the mainline. So the only switches it would control at a yard would be the ones allowing the train onto the mainline.

Last night I turned woodland scenic's "2d" trees into "3d" trees and took some pics just before I painted them. One is just the trees and the other is with an HO scale wind turbine that I just built.

    Width of Roads

So that would explain why a lot of older towns have/had the capacity for 4 lane roads and parking. I knew there had to be some reason other than planning ahead because I doubt 100 years ago they would have imagined that there would be 4 lane roads in these small towns

    Cigarette ash for weathering?

I agree, using cigarette ashes on my layout does not sound appealing due to the unpleasant stale ashtray smell.
