    Question Bethgon coalporters!

Re: thanks I wish I had your money my friend. I was thinking of reserving an 8 car pack but decided it was too much money. :( I do intend to get the three BNSF AC4400's though....as well as the two BN SD70MAC's when they come out.

    HO Radius....How Big?

Just remember that my thread was N scale....big difference. :)

    Question Bethgon coalporters!

You'll have no problem whatsoever with a 24" radius. As short as the coalporters are, they could probably easily handle the 9-3/4" radius. Matthyro, I think he's referring to the Bethgon Coalporters that Kato just announced for release in April or so.

    Anyone Else Notice?

True, but they showed the gaps. It's no big deal really....just a funny observation I guess. :)

    That's kind of what I figured. :D

    Anyone Else Notice?

They had gaps in both diagrams. I think it was just an OOPS. No big deal...I just thought it was interesting. BUT, while the polarity of the frog can and will change, the polarity of the rails beyond the frog should never change...otherwise you'd have two rails of the same polarity (at...

    Anyone Else Notice?

While reading some back issues of MR I made and observation and wondered if anyone else noticed. In the May 2003 issue (p. 87), they posted a diagram for turnout wiring that incorrectly showed the rails beyond the frog changing polarity when the position of the points changed. In the July...

Progress on the BNSF Whitehead Sub

Re: Beautiful handiwork! Smooth running is exactly what I'm hoping for. ;) After looking at several different options for lighting, I think the simplest (and probably most effective) method in my case is just going to me to put 3-4 four foot florescent fixtures on the ceiling above the...

Progress Pictures on the ACT RR

Care to elaborate? Why wouldn't it work?

Progress on the BNSF Whitehead Sub

I completed drawing the track centerlines on all of the plywood I have down at the moment. I also managed to get quite a bit of cork down on those centerlines, including in the yard. I raised what I could to the correct grade, and the rest is still at zero elevation at the moment. Below is...

    Layout Lighting Idea and Questions

I was talking more about putting off heat in the room than being hot to the touch. I'd think halogens would put off a lot of heat. In fact, I have used big halogen lights to warm my hands on cold winter nights when I had to be outside doing something. That might be an idea though. A few...

    Layout Lighting Idea and Questions

Seems like halogens would be awfully hot. Am I wrong??

    Things I've learned...

Amen to that!! :D And a few more: Waxahachie is (wox-uh-hatch-eee)....not (wax-uh-hatch-eee) Mexia is (Muh-hey-uh)....not (Mex-e-uh) And finally....soft drinks are cokes!! Period!! Not soda and not pop!! :D You ask a man if he wants a coke and he'll say, "Yeah, I'll...

Progress on the BNSF Whitehead Sub

It will all be done cookie-cutter style, I just haven't finished drawing all of the track lines out so I can't cut the plywood yet. I will glue the cork roadbed directly to the plywood. I figured out that cookie cutter was MUCH cheaper than using WS subroadbed risers. Not only that, it's a...

NTrak module 98% complete - phew!

Very nice work. I only hope that I can do such a good job of modeling scenery some day. :thumb:

Progress on the BNSF Whitehead Sub

Thanks to everyone for the compliments!! :) I've decided to keep the engine house. I probably will make some "fixes" to it. There's a couple of things on it that the picture doesn't show that I'm not real happy with. Not a big deal though. Agatheron, that's interesting that you...

    Layout Lighting Idea and Questions

Instead of using track lighting or something on the ceiling of my garage, I am thinking of plans to attach lights to my layout something like what I have drawn up below. I would probably space these lights about 2 feet apart around the outside perimeter of the benchwork. I antipate my...

    Kudos to Rix Products!!

Okay...finally got a picture taken. Here is my attempt at the car shop shown above. This kit was a pleasure to put together and I'll definitely be purchasing more of them for some more buildings I want around the yard and probably in other areas too. While I had the glue out, today...
