Thanks for all your replies. I guess I will leave it the way it is although, once the scenery starts to take shape around it I may change something. Thanks again, Troy.

Need some advice on chassis replacement....

Thanks for your reply Ray. I have since spoken with another guy that has tried mounting the same body to an SD7 Chassis without success. Im now searching for a replacement motor, although i dont like my chances. The only ones I have found in Electronic shops are way to big. Cheers, Troy.

Need some advice on chassis replacement....

I have been collecting old Ibertren N Scale Alco Locos because they are the only ones that have made Australian Loco's in N Scale. Unfotunately, only one of them runs. The second one has no motor in it and the third one is missing the brushes in the motor. Ibertren closed down quite a few...

    Oil Depot...

Any thoughts on this "Ratio" Oil Depot Kit I just finished? Im thinking that I may have overdone the oil stains on the pipework? I tried quite a few methods of painting the tanks black but still have them look like they are made of steel and not just painted plastic. Nothing seemed to work...

Thanks everyone. The decal has settled in a bit better overnight and doesnt look too out of place now. I will weather both sides some more as suggested by CNR. 60103 asked what type I of Dullcote I used... It was the spray type... And thanks Agatheron, I didnt leave it overnight before...

    Coal Merchants....

Ive almost completed my "Ratio" Coal Merchants kit but havent attached the rear drainpipes or weathered the concrete steps at the back yet. I have never used decals before and I ruined one of the two. I got them onto the building ok but I decided to seal them in Testors Dullcote and the...

A little more progress on my layout...

Just finished putting together my very first model kit. Its a Carriage Shed made by Ratio. Im going to use it as an Engine Shed though... It took me hours to get it together. The drain pipes were a major pain. Ive learnt a thing or two for next time I put a kit together, such as, don't use...

Opinions wanted on my first attempt at weathering...

Thanks everyone. I must admit that the tips I have for weathering the track are from a book that I purchased. Its called "How To Build Realistic Model Railroad Scenery" by Dave Frary (Kalmbach) Another member of this forum advised me on how to weather the bridge with pastel chalks and I just...
