    Kadee Whisker Couplers

"NO" do not trim the whiskers or you'll defeat thier purpose. If the whiskers are sticking out of the box, then they've been improperly installed. Dick Texas Chief

    Mircoscale's Micro-Sol and Micro-Set

After sliding the decal on a very wet (water only) surface and aligning it, I use a clean, soft cloth on my index finger to roll the excess water out from under the decal as much as possible. I then apply either Champ "Decal-set" or Walthers "Solvaset" immediately. After that dries, I apply a...

    Rivarossi parts?

Dave, I once bought an older Rivarossi 2-8-2 with the pizza cutter wheels and the motor in the cab from a hobby shop that was going out of business. They had cannibalized the motor to repair another 2-8-2 but I bought the rest of the engine, new, for $15. I sent to NWSL for a motor for $27. Then...

    trainworld.com??

:thumb: I have been doing bussiness with them for about 15 years. NONE BETTER!!! They're the least expensive on the market, the fastest shipping, (2 to 3 days to my front door usually), and the largest amount of in stock items. A bit of advise, these people are New Yorkers, if you don't have all...

    Stewart FT light side (Why)

Santa Fe swapped the drawbar on thier very first A-B set for couplers almost immediately. All A-B sets after that had couplers between them! As far as I can tell, they never got rid of the side numbers. Dick Texas Chief

    American Made ?????

If you want good detail, the Intermountain kits, including diesel shells, are made 100% in Colorado. The RTR rolling stock and diesels are made in Colorado and assembled in China, even though the box says "Made in China" Thier steam engines are 100% Chinese. :thumb: Dick Texas Chief

    Freight car question

:thumb: Accurail makes a pretty good looking car for a pretty cheap price in a kit form. But you had better get them while you can, I just heard today from a dealer that they are going to stop making kits and go to all RTR at about half again the price. wall1 Dick Texas Chief

    Stewart FT light side (Why)

I don't know about the other roads but Santa Fe had the side numbers on the "A" units only. :thumb: Dick Texas Chief

    Stewart FT light side (Why)

Kent, the real FT's came that way from the factory. Microscale makes a decal sheet with the side numbers on it on a black background so that only the numbers show through. If they really bug you, I'd suggest that you sell the FT's and purchased some F3's or F7's in thier place. They didn't come...

Seth Godin Talks About What's Wrong With Hobby Stores

Mountain Man, by "The Caboose", I assume you're talking about Caboose Hobbies. I've heard several bad stories about them. Fortunately I have had no bad experiences in there. I used to work for Intermountan up in Longmont so I was in there about every weekend for quite some time and I still go...

    Branchline Yardmaster cars

I have well over a hundred Intermountain, P2K, Kadee and Branchline Blueprint kits, (most of them unbuilt), but with a few hammerhanded folks at my club, I won't take them over there. So therefore, since Athearn BB has fat and shallow grabs and fat and unprototypical stirrups, all of my cars at...

    promblematic BLI tender trucks

Wayne, the trucks are not sprung like freight car trucks. They're like most other tender trucks I would assume. There appears to be a metal frame inside a plastic sideframe that the axle ends fit into. The metal frame seems to slip upwards on one side, taking with it one end of one axle, thereby...
