best brands of N scale locomotives

Kato fans are kato fans. I own a couple and they have NOTHING on my Atlas locos like the GP38s. Kato has its problems, like hoods too wide, poor paint quality on several models, lacking in the detail department. Obviously an opinion, but Atlas has SMOKED kato off the shelf. Both...

    Model of the Month August'2004

yes, village florist. nice women who work in there, ask nicely and they will let you drool over the station interior. Decent condition, its a working shop, but its been kept up to say 80% of the level of Gorham (which is 100% perfect).

    Model of the Month August'2004

I cut triangular pieces as formers, then glued thin acetate pieces over that, giving me an angular roof section. Then I used putty and filled in to round it out. Sanded it smooth enough to glue shingles to. Didn't want it too smooth because I wanted the glue to stick to the putty. The guy who...

    Model of the Month August'2004

Catt, there is another one, about 2/3 of the size, further down the line in Yarmouth. Very beautiful buildings. After figuring out how to do it, RMC did the plans in July. Ugh!

any atlas forum make it here yet

There are a few from the big board who hang around here from time to time, absnut is here as well. My "home" is railwire (which I co-mod with fulltritty) - a lot of folks have ended up there as well. There is also a temp atlas forum set up last shutdown but it appears to be going fairly slow...

N Scale Gorham Station Project - Finished

Thanks for the comments! Yes, the roof was a bear. Its not perfect but close enough for me! Those little N scale shingles are evil! I do want to cast it, for myself (want to try another one with some different techniques for the walls) and for some friends. Does anyone have any thoughts...

N Scale Gorham Station Project - Finished

Well, not finished - needs a chimney! :D I forgot to post it here when I was done. I am going to trim around the roof edges a bit more, seal it, and cast the roof so I don't ever have to make another one! :D I had a few friends ask for a casting, so if it comes out they will get their...

What about Micro Engineering code 55?

Hey Warren! I had ME Code 70 and 55. I had a lot of problems with the turnouts failing, the points would pop off their mounts, etc. The track looks great though. MT wheels will go over the Peco c55 no problem. There is a way to shim peco turnouts if you have problems, their flangeways...

    Atlas Shay

I am getting mine here from Chuck http://www.featherrivertrains.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=41620 Something about steam all of a sudden, I also ordered a bachmann mountain today from Chuck! He had an extra SP unit that I am going to remove the lettering from and convert to a B&M unit. Sweet!

    Station Progress 12/8

The walls are all in. Note the advil bottle! I still have to cut in and install the front windows in the curved section. I am adding brick trim to represent the granite foundation/walls. I have also started the roof - my nightmare - but no pics. Maybe next week or so.

    Atlas N-Scale Code 55 Track

Any of the Atlas and Kato locos will be fine. You will have to take the pizza cutters off of trucks from MT and replace them with lo-pros. Atlas cars with accumates are all fine. Code 55 is nice, lots of folks are saying that the flex goes in smoother than code 80. I ditched peco and ME...
