    Pouring "water"

Mrs.Mac: Just saw this topic. If you use masking tape alone, make sure it is reinforced well and as a precaution for the inevitable, make sure you have something covering the floor. Don't ask, fortuanately my previous layout was in the garage and no big deal. I like the idea of using...

    The New Nickelcreek Southern RR

Thanks Brian. Yes, it is "The Iowa Central, Class 1 operation on a simple S scale layout" published by MR. I always liked it and the plan kept coming back to me, so I said why not in N scale. I think that it is going to be fun to bring it to life.

    The New Nickelcreek Southern RR

Shamus, Thanks for the offer. I really want the layout to be DCC this time and I will be the first to admit I am not the "genius" when it comes to the wiring. I do understand the basics and can wire those simple aspects but it seems the more I read on special considerations such as wye's...

    The New Nickelcreek Southern RR

screwysquirrel, The center penisula represents the yard at West Susanville and the lower penisula represents Downtown Susanville where several industries will be represented with wall flats. A typical day on the railroad will require the yard engine at West Susanville to begin rounding up...

    The New Nickelcreek Southern RR

This is an update of the Nickelcreek Southern RR. Due to work, home projects and other commitments, work has only proceeded as far as the benchwork construction. However, upon assembling the benchwork and preliminary drawing of the track on the benchwork, I have concluded that the design would...

    Nickelcreek Southern Layout Update

My benchwork is installed in the train room and have installed the backdrop and painted the 1/8" Masonite an initial blue base. Used Kilz Casual Color Flat Interior Acrylic Latex, Base 1, F10, Supernal Blue as the base. I'm pleased with the color, it does look better than the photo shows...

    Nickelcreek Southern Layout Update

I finished the benchwork this weekend. I chose to model after the Sievers line of benchwork to compare the time and cost. The cost came to $109.44 compared to the approximate cost of $585.80 from Sievers. This is a realized savings of $476.36 which will more than pay for the cost of the Atlas...

    Layout Advice & Recommendations

Permission has been granted for the use of a spare bedroom; therefore, a new layout is called for. Current layout is on a 36" x 80" hollow core door. I would appreciate some input on the proposed plan. Some particulars of the plan are as follows: 1. N-Scale 2. Size - 10' x 7.5'...
