If the Kato shell fits the RTR Frame, it should fit a BB Frame with the newer motor, since they should be identical (The RPP GP35 fits the Athearn BB Frame)

brakie: Can't use the Kato hatch on the current Athearn GP35, it's a widebody. The RTR GP35 will be scale width(It's an updated RPP shell) and should take the hatch, but it will be available in non-dynamic.
