    Wheelsets for Rivarossi Passenger Cars

Merry Christmas, Crew! I'm trying to convert my heavyweight passenger car fleet wheelsets to something compatible with Code 55 rail. The " cutters" on the Rivarossi trucks really chatter over the spikes. Anyway, I had some of the Atlas low profile wheelsets for MicroTrains trucks, but they...

    Old Rivarossi Heisler

I have an opportunity to acquire one real cheap. Electrical pickup seems to be left wheels of leading truck and right wheels of center truck. Not good. Anybody ever add additional pickups? How? Thanks from the Skunk Valley

    2ND Gauge Layout party

Weekly Progress Report. The track is weathered and ballasted on one of the FoamRail Modules. Backdrops have been scenicked a bit. Stuck in a few trees for effect, and it looks like this....

    2ND Gauge Layout party

Ummmm.... There's no ballast there, yet. That's coming in the next week or so. Opinions sought: While some of the main objectives are light weight and ruggedness, the pictures strike me as showing a quite flat scene. One side is intended for an industrial setting. The rest is to be "out...

    2ND Gauge Layout party

Progress Report on the FoamRail Project: Weathered the track by hand brushing some rust over quite a bit of it. Followed that with an air-brushing of railroad tie brown. Probably need to go back and lightly rust a little more. Oh well.... Also planted a lot of grass on a few areas...

    2ND Gauge Layout party

Project status: Foamrail module is constructed. Track is laid, Electrical stuff is done. Scenery has just started: a little bit of grass is planted and some work toward a small rocky hill completed. This week I'll keep planting grass and maybe work on the backdrop / view dividers a bit.

    Trolley Modelling Question

Update on the experiment: Laid a section of flextrack with a 7 inch radius 90 degree turn. Popped the top off the Bachmann Trolley. The unpowered truck followed the curve ok. The power truck wouldn't. It only took a little filing on the frame where the truck snaps in to free it up...

    2ND Gauge Layout party

Me too. Couple of potential projects. But I hink I'll continue with the FoamRail module project. Local club has a display opportunity on May first. I'd like to have the modules looking good for that.

    Trolley Modelling Question

Thanks for the info, guys. Looks like it may be time to set up a test track. Thinking a "racetrack" with 8, 7 1/2, 7, and 6 1/2 inch radius turns oughta cover the spectrum. I have one of the Bachmann bargains and a Dremel. I'll probably start off as ...gasp... and then see how an...

    Trolley Modelling Question

Any trolley experts here? I see an article occasionally about a trolley line or layout. Our club has a spot for one on a city scene module. Can you really get HO models that'll handle a 7 - 8 inch radius curve? If so, who makes them? Anything else I need to know before trying something...

    Flying Switch.

Love the story, Brakie. Used to watch Piedmont & Northern crews pull it off at the cannery behind my grandmother's house. They actually had the trackage to do runarounds, but would have had to travel a couple of miles. Guess they preferred the flying switch. I bought several of the...

    Gauge - Layout Party

Last Update from Skunk Valley I've been trapped into another business trip next week. Just reviewed the opening posts of the party, and noticed we're near the end, so this will be it for me. To review, I've laid the track, wired the FoamRail modules, ran trains, and ran more trains. Since...

    Happy Birthday to:-

Thanks for the Birthday wishes, Crew. And happy birthday to the rest of the 18th's best! Sue presented me with a pretty good collection of non-railroady stuff. She's great. And we're planning to hit the Greenberg Show in Atlanta Saturday, so the birthday's not over yet.

    Gauge - Layout Party

Weakly Progress Report Should have said "Weekly progress," but weakly felt more appropriate. I did lay the track for the sidings. Since the Peco turnouts are power routing, I was able to try them out. But I still need to wire them properly. so add that to my "to do" list for this week. I...

    Operational Question

Operational Reality Allow me to inject a few thoughts toward conducting an operating session. My local club only has about a dozen "active" members. Of those, only 2 or 3 have any real experience in ops. Skill level of the operators will greatly influence what can be done in a session...
