Sort of an addendum to this subject, WP did receive two U30Bs in Pearlman green, 770 and 771. GE made 'em a good deal on two demonstrators. When the renumbering took place, the silver and orange units kept their paint for a while and were just renumbered into the new class. The renumbering...
Greetings all!!! Couldn't make it here yesterday, too blasted many things goin' on.:(
Another great day here in the NW, a bit foggy but ye ol' Sol is breakin' out. A nice hot cuppa and fat pill is just what the doctor ordered.
Ya'll have a great day out there in RR land.;)
;)Hey, I didn't know this was 'Bring yer camel to work day'.!!
Anyway, good morning ya'll and thanks for openning the B-room there Mr. Brakie. I need plenty o' coffee to keep me a goin' today. Ya'll have a great day out there and keep on a railroadin'.:D
Bit late today. That blasted cap kept snarlin' at me, so I finally gave it the boot, 'cept then it bit down of m' boot and wouldn't leggo. Now I got a dad blasted hole in m' boot and that critter of a cap got away. Think I'll go find me a bobcat to take care of this here problem.  ;)
Time for another cuppa in my nice and 'black' mug. Don't need no dawgs a cleanin' it, besides, they might get sick.:p
Looks like I'll half ta wait for a cuppa, there's a funny lookin' cap by the coffee urn, and it's snarlin' at me.
Ah well, I can wait 'im out and...
I have no 'techie' answer for ya Casey on this one. I started using good ol' Floquil back in '73 and have 'stuck' with it ever since. I know its properties and am very satisfied with the results I obtain with it.;) :D
Greetings all from the partly sunny NW. Another fine day in the works and I am lookin' forward to a nice hot cuppa and some no calorie donut holes.
Hang tough there Jack. Spouse challenges can really pull us down. My wife of 31 years has been going through menopause (why isn't...
There's lotsa good hobby publications out there and one needs to sample each to find out which one will contribute to his interests..;)
I have subscribed to MR for 30 years and will continue to do so because it meets my needs and interests. I also get Diesel Era for the same reason.:cool...
Tom F,
The Earnst set for the Hustlers comes with a set of flywheels also. The conversion process is not a 'drop in' and will take some work, but the results are worth it. I would suggest some NWSL nickel silver wheels also for your Hustlers. If'n ya have any questions about installation...
Friday already!!!!
Well, nice and cool day here in the NW and a hot, black cuppa will be great.:D
I noticed upon coming into the Breakroom that something furry ran out as I openned the door, and it was carryin' a donut. What's a goin' on:confused:
That's the one. Earnst only makes one four axle set. One of our club switchers has the Earnst set, the old Athearn motor, and a Bowser pot metal SW1500 casting on it. That sucker will pull the drywall off the walls. :) ;)
I done regeared mine with the Earnst set, and put NWSL 36" wheelsets on it. Runs great!!!! Da wife confiscated it for her annual Christmas diorama and has it pulling a 'tourist' train through her Christmas village.:D
The gears are worth it in my book. After Christmas I get it back as my...
I have always been fond of the SD7s and 9s. I loved the looks of those guys working the Iron Range in Minnesota on the GN, runnin' long hood forward.
My other fave is the good ol', reliable SD40 series. I never grew weary of seeing these puppies hauling all that coal outa the PRB on the...
Say, one more thought on dry transfers. I purchased some blank Microscale decal stock and 'burnished' a set of transfers to it. I then sprayed it off with a heavy coat of Testors Dullcoat and - - - Decals!!! ready to go.:D :)
Wolv,
If'n I'm really careful, I do not have to touch up the spot where I sanded off the lettering. I can never match paints either. After I apply the new lettering, a touch up of Dullcoat does the job and everything looks like 'gnu.':D ;)
A lil' late here this AM. A hot cuppa is jus' what I need.:)
Good t' see ya John, and this here breakroom crowd is as on'ry as ever, what with 6 month ol' sox, and Casey's hat runnin' around, we got ourselves some challenges.:D ;)
