Best Track for on carpet use?

While this is a great thing for your under tree of kids layout, be aware that running any of the above sets on carpet is going to get carpet lint and gunk in the gears. You should put something such as a smooth fabric sheet between the carpet and the track to minimize the amount of lint that...

Pete, For all of us that have been educated, mentored, coached, encouraged, critiqued, and otherwise influenced by Paul it would be nice if we could get an address to possibly send personal card. Do you know if he would give his postal address to us. Thanks,

Bruce at Litchfield Station is an excellent choice. He does have a backlog. Go to his site - he has a page that tells you about getting on the list, packing and mailing, etc.

    OH NOZ! He's Back!

Hi Cannon, I have not been happy with mine, Noisy, not good at low speed, and impossible to put a decoder into it unless you do some cutting or exchange the frame for an Aztec. I prefer the Kato better.

How long have you been a model railroader?

Off and on for about 30+ years. I have been collecting HO and N scale equipment and structures for about 40 years but have built only 2 n-scale layouts (one in the 1972 time frame and my recent 2003 layout). Been into the "arm-chair" mode for a long time:):)

any advice on nailing track to cork roadbed on 5/8 plywood

I would also suggest NOT gluing your turnouts down. As has been pointed out in other threads, you want to be able to remove the turnout easily If it needs to be replaced in the future. Generally the turnout will give you more problems that the track so leave them accessible and removable. You...

    Emperor of the north layout

If i understand your question you are looking to so something like this _______________---------------------------- . Remember that the rise in grade happens over a length of track. A 2% grade equates to 2" over a 100" length of track (1" over 50" etc. The more gradual the rise the...

    No control with DCC

It sounds like you might have changed a CV that you did not intend to. See your documentation and reset the decoder to the factory settings and start over. If that doesn't work you might need to contact the decoder tech support for assistance.

    Remotoring Atlas 0-4-0

I have a circa 1970 Atlas 0-4-0 that used to be a fun little loco to run on the layout. However, I tried to run it yesterday and had smoke coming from the motor. I have tried to get it to run under DCC and DC but to no avail. Does anyone make a small motor that will repower this little loco?
