best bang for the buck building kits?

I stocked up on the mega cheap Bmann kits at the model expo closeout - these will be great for bashing large industrial structures.

What about Micro Engineering code 55?

ME code 55 is an excellent choice for modellers who can not use Atlas c55 because of MT wheel interference. Many also believe it is more realistic looking than Atlas. Some complain that it is not as flexible, but in fact this is a positive - it stays bent the way you want it to and isn't...

OK, Peco has my vote--Now, Electro vs Insulfrog

There are many who are called snipers, and programs that will do the sniping for you available. Snipers will wait till the final seconds to bid or will have the program do it for them. I have lost many an auction to a sniper. but oh well, If it goes higher than I think its worth, let...

OK, Peco has my vote--Now, Electro vs Insulfrog

As has been stated Insulfrog is the best choice for DCC. For DC it does require some additional wiring, but nothing major. Electrofrog is best when using older short wheelbase steamers and 4 axle diesels and other old locos that didn't have all wheel pickup, as well as those with the...

    Peco or . . . ?

That's precisely the point Catt. once the track is weathered and ballasted one is hard pressed to tell what kind it is, and since there really is no set standard variation in the real thing is normal. The deal with Peco is the way the frogs are and the guard rails on the turnouts compared...

THE Track / MT Wheels Debate ...

MT large flange wheels have no problems with Peco 55, nor do the major brands of locomotives going back about 20 years or so. The only ones you might have a problem with are the old old Arnold Rapidos and Limas that had what looked like HO wheels on them.

    Peco or . . . ?

As rsn48 states , in N there is no one best track choice. It all depends on what features are important to you. Kato Unitrack - good points - easy to work with - great choice of crossings, radii and turnouts, great for temporary set ups and test tracks, extremely durable. down sides -...

    Atlas N-Scale code 55

Catt, my post said that PEco track is European (particularly British) prototype, which it is, and went on to say that once it is ballasted it is less noticeable. You are correct, once it is weathered and ballasted and viewed from a distance it is not noticeable at all. Again - not blasting...

    Atlas N-Scale code 55

Prices of each are roughly equal, with ME maybe being slightly higher. The main issue with ME track is availability. ME is a small outfit, and can only squeeze in some runs in between their more popular HO lines and building kits. ME track quickly sells out when stores get it in. It can be...

    Atlas N-Scale code 55

The atlas 55 has been the source of a considerable amount of controversy since it first came out. It is by far and away the best looking track out there, with the possible exception of ME track. It has more realistic US prototype tie spacing than the Peco which is European prototype. The...

Do you like the LifeLike GP38-2?

The LL units aren't bad for the money, I have a few, paid less than $15 each for them, run pretty good for non flywheel/non split frame locos. Pretty good for their day, and were pretty much the only game in town for a 38, unless you were lucky enough to find the elusive yetti of N scale...

Ah yes, Kleins, I have been buying from them off and on since the early seventies. Great prices and service. One of the best selections around. Had one minor snafu on a recent ebay purchase but it was quickly and professionally straitened out. Was some communication problems between myself...
