    Upgrading an Athearn BB F45

It's been three years since someone has posted to this thread... Anyhow, I have four BN F45 that were undergoing a similar tranformation. I finished one, and it is still sitting in white primer more than six or seven years later. Once Athearn anoounced a new F45 I lost interest and end up...

New N Scale Layout - Basic Project to Learn the good stuff

Nice layout! I like to see what people can do when they are limited to small spaces. I am in the planning stags of a 3' x 4' N-scale. I'm thinking of going with a mix of Atlas code55 snap track and flextrack and a min. radius of either 12.5" or 13.75". I like the pre-formed curves as it takes...

    Blue foam or foam blues?

We are all familiar with the 2" blue foam we curently use in layout construction. It is very dense and very sturdy and makes for pretty solid and lightweight benchwork. My question is what wrong with using the 2" white "beadboard" foam? Aside from the obvious (less density and somewhat...

Do you like the LifeLike GP38-2?

I would like to know your feelings about the LifeLike GP38-2. Could it be made into a decent running, nicely detailed model? Or would it be better to just go with the Atlas GP38? I guess the main detraction for me is the nasty handrails, but could these be fixed? What is your experience with...
