Bought this trailertrain set from Alan Curtis years ago, but had no layout. Now part of track down I did a testrun with this cars. Problem is the little hole in the cars to catch the pin in front of the trailer seems to be to small. Do I need to drill this out or should I cut the pin on the...

Easements in Unitrack (sort of) can be done.

I'm an appartment dweller and I think I have to wait till retairement to settle in my own house. This is the reason I bought Unitrack so I can set up and tear down a small layout to run some trains. In the early days I used to have a layout build in flex track and I was pleased to see my...

Granite Gorge & Northern in Unitrack

This plan is based on the GG&N, and it is a 9' by 4' 2"" layout. Switching only happens in the yard, which is designed not to fool the main. I think for a single operator this layout is O.K. Any positive critics ? Paul

    Diorama idea

A few weeks ago I saw a picture of a diesel beïng fueled on the road. I think that is a great idea for a diorama. Just made a setup ( no details, just the scene). Paul

    Peco insulfrogs

Got a part of my track down and tested. Trackwork (flex) seems to be OK, but every time locks and cars passes the frog of a turnout, they seemed to be shaked. No derailments but a click sound and a visible shaking of cars and locks. This happens on each of the five turnouts in the loop. The...

    Body mount couplers

I hear some people say that all their rolling stock has bodymount couplers. I think we all now that is the best, but I never saw a how-to on this. I would like to convert my rolling stock to bodymount with N-scale couplers. Question: Can I use the Microtrain trucks and couplers I use now...

Bombardier bi-levels on eastern commuter service

I wonder are Bombardier bi-levels seen on eastern commuter railroads. Eathern has nice sets of these in N-scale, but I think they are all western or Canadian. Am I missing something ? Paul

Maybe I should stop modelling US trains

I am in a bad mood now. I ordered MT couplers and some rolling stock on oktober 15. The order supposed to be a Christmass gift from my brothers and sisters in law. Mark (4nscale.com) dropped an e-mail on oktober 30 that the order was shipped. On december 20 still nothing arrived and...

    Blocks, common-rail wiring or not?

I need to divide the layout I'm currently building in blocks. I plan to go later on DCC, but for now I'll use DC. The turnouts used are Peco insulfrog and there are no reverse loops in the layout plan. Can I use common-rail wiring (cutting only the + tracks) or do I have to cut both tracks to...

Cork is glued down and bridges are in place. Now I have to start laying flextrack. It is a bit scary, this my second layout, but as my first layout was all Unitrack, I have never worked with flex. We will see what comes up. Paul
