What kind of track/turnouts is it? Looks like HO. Shinohara (Walthers)?

I agree with everyone else. Don't change a thing!!!! It looks great. What I've found with weathering is that it is almost impossible to over do it, unless you get too careless. If art imitates, real life, think of it like that and it makes weathering that much easier.

New layout photos with the new camera

aartwmich, once I have I have the settings how I want them, the camera autofocuses on the subject. It's quite easy. I was intimidated at first, but haven't had a "bad" shot yet, when doing it manually. Jim T, If I remember correctly, this particular shot was done with the aperature set at f8...

Lighting is my next step for improvements. What you, or others, suggest as a good beginning lighting "package" to get good spot lighting as well as fill lighting.

New layout photos with the new camera

Here you go....The camera is positioned about 3/4 of an inch away. if any of you are college basketball fans, this fisherman I have dubbed "Rick" as an homage to Rick Majerus, basketball coach at my beloved alma mater, the Univ. of Utah. The fisherman has a striking resemblance For what...

New layout photos with the new camera

Thanks all. Matthyro, the camera has both full manual and auto capabilties. For this picture, I used manual settings. Shamus, that is one thing I've also liked about this camera is the depth of field. The macros on this camera are incredible as well. If I needed to, I could focus in on a...

    Digital Camera Poll

I just purchased an Olympus C-4000z a few weeks ago and am really enjoying it. I upgraded from a Nikon Coolpix 775 which is great for point and shoot type of shots, but has severe limitations on what can be done photographing model railroad shots. What I like most about the camera is its...

New layout photos with the new camera

I purchased an Olympus C-4000z a few weeks back and have been experimenting with it ever since. It's really a fine camera, and based on the amount of Olympus owners on the board, it appears I made a great choice. I really like it and it has every feature/capability "I" would ever need out of a...

    Ground Cover Info, Please!

What you've done so far looks great! Very natural. I'm a fan of the Woodland Scenics ground foam, but done in very moderate amounts and with very muted colors. Sometimes it can be overdone and laid on a little heavy, but with some testing, you can usually achieve the desired effect.

    Heisler on route

Thanks all. Well I broke down and got the C-4000Z and couldn't be more pleased--so far. I got it at Costco ($419 US). Was willing to pay the higher price because Costco has a very, very lenient satisfaction guarantee, meaning if you're not satisfied for any reason at any time, bring it back for...

    Heisler on route

Shamus, thanks for the advice. I'm leaning towards the C4000. I believe the macros are the same (or about the same) on both, plus the C4000 is a little less expensive. As you mentioned, I don't need to zoom into something 200 yards away. My main focus is the layout and family shots. If...

    Heisler on route

Thanks for the feedback Shamus. I'm debating the purchase of either an Olympus C-4000 Zoom, or an Olympus C-720 Ultra Zoom, which appears to be newer version of your camera. What I've found with my point and shoot Nikon is that the aperature range is unacceptable (no surprise) and the...
